I understand why he called it Detroit 2, but he set the bar high as fukk when he did that because Detroit might be his best work. This album doesn't have the highs that tape has.

It's OK though.

I must say that I’m pretty shocked. There’s a lot of good songs, but I’d assume that Sean was aiming higher than this, cause he shows that he has the talent and he also has the mind, support and on.

But this basically sounds like “a collection of some songs I’ve been working on”. It’s neither I’m trying to show that I’m the best Mc nor I’m trying to sell a lot of records. Just a bunch of songs that are all over the place and some of them just magically happened to be dope and many meh, next.

I’ll listen again to see if I catch the Detroit angle more than the well executed skits.

this album was also scrapped and restarted multiple times

its cool. way too long but cool.
if you're a fan of Big Sean I don't see how you couldn't love it.

I don't enjoy listening to Sean as a rapper. his voice annoys me and I struggle to take him seriously and his voice plays a part in that.
I think he struggles to convey tone. there's no real emotion in his voice. everything is rapped and manner and way. he comes off kind of cheesy.

at least he doesn't sound like a deaf person rapping loudly anymore.

I think I hit the :mjlol: or :stopitslime: at least once a verse with his goofy ass bars.

Lil Wayne sounded great.

that Cypher song was terrible and a poor representation of how good the scene is in Detroit right now.
hearing Eminem on a flip of Grindin is nauseating.

I used to like big sean but it seems like he's been coasting and putting out mediocre projects for like the last 5 years or so now.

It's not so much about concept and theme as about the songs being all over the place, as in a lot of songs feel like demo quality in terms of structuring and writing. But as I said, I need to give it a few more spins. I think that my expectations were unrealistic but idk yet.

This is why sequencing is so important. Like the songs ARE there to go with the theme. It’s just all over the place..

The problem with Sean is that he has no story. Only back story he has was skipping college to rap and meeting Ye at the radio station. And that was a decade ago.

Sean is rapping rapping but all of these songs almost seem like pointless run on sentences. TWENTY88 was so dope because it was his real life love story

So what order are y’all putting this album tracklist wise? What songs y’all cutting and what order are you putting the remaining songs?
