I never heard this "traitor" talk until recently. That shyt was hardly some major narrative back then.

First of all, it wasn't even the entire BCC recording with Pac. The only members that ever even met him were Buckshot and Smif N Wessun. The rest of the crew got cool with The Outlawz after Pac was long gone, and they're from New Jeruz anyway.

BCC didn't start to wane in popularity around the tri-state/East Coast until they dropped that major disappointment group album.. It wasn't no damn Pac affiliation that turned heads off from their music.

And how could they be looked at as traitors when most people didn't even know they had recorded songs with Pac until the One Nation tracks leaked? First time any of those collabos were heard wasn't until damn near a year after Biggie got killed.

This is revisionist history. I owned and read everything BCC related back then, and I saw how much love they got firsthand when I visited Brooklyn back in '98.

And for anyone that doesn't know, they didn't "side with Pac over Big". They were cool with Pac because he reached out to them and ahowed them love and they got close while recording the One Nation album together.

The issues the Fab 5 had with Biggie had NOTHING to do with Pac. They were "beefin" with Biggie before Pac even entered the equation, and again, it wasn't even the parties involved that people think. Fab 5 never met Pac and Smif N Wessun loved Biggie, specifically Tek who was very close to Big.

Good point about “siding” to be honest even with the fans who may have had healthy debates almost everyone loved the music from both artists.

By the way what was the background to the No Fear music video? My memory fails me :flabbynsick:

Got something in the back of my mind about a club or studio incident but then it all being squashed soon after

I swear people act like they linked up because of Biggie. When the truth is Smif N Wessun shouted him out in the linear notes on Da Shinin. And he was most likely a fan.

I got ya. I thought maybe they hated Puff, the commercial vibe Big brought or something
“I heard Puff on the radio, I’m back in NY again…”

Boot Camp Click were going at Biggie and Bad Boy at one point. They even threw (a stand in version of) them off the stage in one of their videos. I can’t remember which video it was at the moment.

Besides that, a lot of East Coast MCs didn’t fukk with Bed Boy.

Yep. You can be cool with two people who have issues with one another without picking sides.

There's an interview from a few years ago where Dru Ha was trying to explain to Pac how they were close to Mobb Deep when Pac went off on a fukk Mobb Deep rant around them. Pac didn't give a fukk, he was still on his fukk Mobb Deep shyt, and Buckshot and Smif N Wessun didnt give a fukk, they still loved Mobb Deep. This isn't 3rd grade, you can have friends that don't get along with each other but are still cool with you.

Being a west coast dude and at that time

I always look at some New York Rappers like:what::mjtf: u abandoning Biggie and bad boy and riding with Pac and doing songs with this nikka

Then I came cross a New York dude and he was like many nikkas had they own issues with Biggie and Bad Boy but at the same time they wasn’t choosing sides they was choosing to get paid and get their name out here
