It's also well known that Biggie DID write some stuff and only started doing the no paper thing while recording RTD so it's entirely possible that he wrote The What and some other songs but didn't write anything down for others.

Biggie used to write his rhymes he had a book of rhymes. Easy Moe Bee said the same thing, but eventually Biggie stopped writing his rhymes. Method Man probably been in the studio with Biggie once in his entire life, so because Biggie did it the time he was in the studio doesn't mean he ALWAYS did it that way. Like I said, early in his career many of stated he wrote his rhymes and then switched as he advanced

After jay kept saying he didn't write and every mixtape and smack DVD rapper wanted to follow suit...That was horrible.

Yup, and a terrible way to by example, for a lot of artists following in their footsteps it "sounds" like they didn't put it on paper
Secondly it completely degrades and devalues the art - as if it is mere afterthought
Ironically I prefer his original first verse than the one that made the albumMade Biggie rewrite his original verse on The What though

rappers NOT writing down their rhymes is a bad thing because it leads to lazy lyrics - people need to stop glorifying this practice as if it makes Biggie a better lyricist
