Can you briefly elaborate on this. I see people in here referring to Bill as a c00n or a sellout for telling black people to tighten up whilst ignoring white supremacy. Do people really think Bill calling out white supremacy would change anything?

Wouldn’t it be more impactful to tell your people first to clean themselves up starting with how we treat and refer to one another? All my life, I’ve seen Bill put on for black people. From his early films to Fat Albert to the Cosby show and beyond.

Seeing this man serve time in an institution is a tragedy but it’s also a testament to his moral character that he is still doing well and in great spirits. Keep strong Bill.

Speeches should be brief when addressing your community. Imo focus should be on what you offer, it’s successes and how people can get involved. Chastising in public has little intended effect and even if it’s tough love it won’t be received well.

People forget Cosby actually did a nationwide TOUR talking to Black audiences and meeting community leaders to help find solutions and hone his message. He said back then in community meetings he wished he had exempted Blacks doing well from the pound cake speech.

This is why he isn't a c00n. Most Black people will spout this nonesense on FOX or something and then bask in the glory. He didn't want their daps, he actually wants shyt to change.

He said he regretted not praising Blacks doing well a couple years after the speech when he was doing his tour to talk about the issues.
