I lost a lot of respect for Bill O'Brien. If being an NFL coach was his dream job then he should have never went to Penn State. He could have stayed as the Patriots OC and eventually he would have gotten a head coaching job. Instead, he went to PSU and convinced a lot of big time players like Christian Hackenburg to commit to him only to bail on them after one or two years.

O'Brien is a POS.
you nikkas are really that supprised that he left :what:

College coaches (coaches in general) are not to be taken on their word. That's a pretty wide known fact or it should at least be by now. Can't be upset with dude :yeshrug:

Dude could not get a job anywhere.

He interviewed for a lot of head coaching jobs and no one would hire him.

That's why he took the Penn St. job that no one wanted

I'm pretty surprised at all that "Paterno people" stuff. I frequent PSU boards a lot and fans mostly loved O'Brien and didn't want to see him go and were thrilled with the changes he made and how he kept the team together. I mean sure there were a handful of dissenters here and there like you would find anywhere, but they were few and far between and not really taken seriously. The harshest criticisms against BOB, which were warranted in my opinion, were just about his game coaching. We lost to Indiana who had a terrible run D because we passed like 55 times. Lost to Minnesota who we should have beaten. Lost to OSU 63-14. I mean I've heard very little criticisms about his leadership, changes to the program, etc.

Besides, from many accounts, his true beef was with administration, and the temp AD Dave Joyner in particular. I guarantee you that frustration was more rooted in his hate for Joyner than any "Paterno people". He was damn near universally appreciated in HV for his efforts, at least from fans.

Check out John Ziegler on Twitter. He's the ring-leader of crazy Paterno people. The Paterno family has completely distanced themselves from him.

I think Joe got kinda railroaded, but like the rest of the world, we've moved on.

Ziegler and his disciples are a small group, but so very loyal and vocal. They're fukking idiots.

Exactly. Penn St. made him look like he is a mastermind, but you are grossly overrating this guy. @SHAQAVELLI included. Your standards were so low that you're blown away by him. He is a worse coach than McDaniels was. He continuously struggled to make second half adjustments. He benefited from inheriting Brady, Gronk, Welker, and Hernandez. Let's not get carried away with this guy. He's good at simplifying the game for a QB and he did that in college, but it is that same thing that made his offenses stall in the second half in the NFL. He's still 50-50 and not a guarantee whatsoever in the pros.

I been saying this. Brady and Manning are coordinators in their own way, so they make their OC appear much better than they are! Teams pick up their OC's and it's never the same results.

O'brien inherited a great offense whilst at NE....I'm not saying he didn't prepare well each week offensively but let's be real Brady made them all appear the way they are today.
