I'm trying to figure out why everyone believes his criticism of Goodell got him canned. Have you all been listening to any ESPN RADIO, podcasts, TV shows, or read any articles the past 18-24 months? They have all been attacking him in some form or fashion. Vigorously at that. This just a case of this little whiny voice bytch overestimating his worth or knowing he could get what he thought he was worth just to get away from that network

The only way this turns out OK is if ESPN replaces all the Simmons related content with LeBatard and Bomani related content. I hear they really invested in at least LeBatard so hopefully he gets more airtime than just HQ, which is a nice breath of fresh air for 30 min but he and Bomani need their own hour long shows, instead of NFL Live, First Take and I'm sorry but His and Hers is the worst too and PTI is :flabbynsick:

Whenever Lowe appears on Simmons podcast their chemistry and interactions give me the same vibe as interactions between Jim Halpert and Michael Scott on The Office.
Zach Lowe is like rolling his eyes, thinking "Oh these weird questions and takes again. But he IS my boss and he probably means well, so w/e.." .. "Oh, here he goes ranting again.."
"Thats just Bill" :yeshrug:

:russ:Happens any time Zach starts a sentence with ":francis: I mean, (pause)..."

Dang, I decided to do my research, you lying fool. From "ESPN Sports Guy Bill Simmons (Finally) Wrong About Basketball"

So your entire argument for Simmons being racist is that he Stans Ricky Rubio...and there's someone writing a column about how unfair it is that Simmons rips apart Rubio. Take an L.
For you and the other person who said Bill Simmons was a Rubio skeptic

Ricky Rubio started for Calderón and was solid, if not great. But the feat itself? Do I need to remind you he's the same age as Jamie Lynn Spears? Imagine Team USA picking Chris Paul and a high school kid as its point guards, then Paul missing the gold-medal game and the teenager holding his own? How many commercials would he be filming right now? Twenty? The nonstop Pistol Pete comparisons are beneath Rubio; his defensive instincts, playmaking and athleticism bring him closer to a hybrid of Scottie Pippen and a young Magic—if they happened to look like one of the Jonas Brothers. I love Ricky to the point that I might move to whatever NBA city gets him. You think I'm kidding.

Ricky Rubio, A hybrid of Scottie Pippen and Magic Johnson. And you people value his basketball knowledge. His ice must be so much colder. :skip: But wait, there's more:

4. It took 21 minutes before someone (Fran Fraschilla) gushed about Rubio's once-in-a-generation passing, two-steps-ahead-of-everyone timing and incredible career (playing professionally since age 14). Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, is going to regret not being more excited about Ricky Rubio on June 25, 2009.

4:52: The Zombie Sonics take … James Harden. And thank God, I didn't want to turn on Seattle. I really didn't. "He's battled asthma since he was a child," Scott tells us. How does Rubio drop to No. 4? How?!? I feel like I'm gonna pass out. I like Harden as a glue-character guy and he definitely has a good porn name. But considering the Zombies have to worry about Durant fleeing in a couple of years, wasn't it in their best interests to find him an unselfish guard who's immensely fun to play with and was put on the earth to get Durant easy baskets? Big mistake.

They should have taken Rubio instead of Harden, he said. He's a once in a generation passer, he said. :skip:

Dog I really don't care care. Haven't watched that network in almost a year. What I am saying is he doesn't even factor when it comes to NFL to ESPN. Numerous of their on air and print personnel have trashed Goodell and none of them been fired for it or let go. PLENTY! Dude overestimated his worth and thought he could play that "fukk u pay me" card and Skipper said "fukk u". It ain't that difficult. What was the NFL gonna do? Turn down $$$ from ESPN?

at least he makes his shytty opinions (when he has them) entertaining...compared to chad ford and a bunch of other "pundits" who are both terrible and boring

in fact their back and forths in the old drafts were amusing because someone finally got to troll ford one on one. go back and check the archives. they were both wrong a good bit but it was probably the only time chad ford wasnt mind numbingly boring..

i dont even think ive seen chad ford on tv before for that matter..not in this decade anyway. is he even alive?

So he hyped Rubio when he was a teenager playing professionally for Spain, and then started ripping on him the moment he started playing in the league and not measuring up. We have proof of both.

You know what’s amazing about that one? That was an atrocious decision at the time … and that’s when we thought Ricky Rubio was good! Now that Rubio has established himself as the worst shooter in modern NBA history, it has to go down as David Kahn’s single worst decision. Yeah, even worse than taking two straight point guards in 2009 without making sure either of them was named “Stephen Curry.” What an abominable talent evaluation. Did anyone other than Kahn, at any point in the past three years, believe that Ricky Rubio had a higher ceiling as an NBA player than Kevin Love?

And somehow, that shows that he's an anti-Black racist, when he's stanned for literally hundreds of Black ballers. :camby:

And when did I say I "valued his basketball knowledge"? :mindblown:

I said he was entertaining. That's his job. He obviously watches all the games and knows all the players, so its better to listen to him than guys like Bayless and Cowherd who are just talking out their ass, but I'm not valuing anything about Simmons's analysis. If you're watching ESPN personalities to learn how to play basketball, then you know nothing about basketball.

From espns perspective why pay a guy 6 mill a year who has gotten lazy and is doing one podcast a week and a column every few months?
