The Grantland editor also challenged ESPN's brass to discipline him for speaking out against the NFL.

"I really hope somebody calls me or emails me and says I'm in trouble for anything I say about Roger Goodell, because if one person says that to me, I'm going public," Simmons said. "You leave me alone. The commissioner is a liar and I get to talk about that on my podcast."

Billy built Grantland. He found the talent and runs that whole ship. He probably gets more traffic on Grantland than ESPN's site gets now. He's been getting more and more outspoken the past handful of years. I wouldn't be surprised if he's planning on splitting and taking the talent with him. ESPN doesn't strike me as smart enough to throw a non-compete in for most of those people Billy signed up (Lowe/Jacoby/Barnwell). NBC is probably in the background like
