Even on a “credible” list , wu tang, OutKast, ATCQ, run dmc, PE, and NWA are all gonna be vying for top 3-5, bone should be top 10 (top 5 for me personally), but like I said earlier, for this list, I’m expecting them to be comically low

bone thugs were bigger and better than outkast, tribe & even wutang.

they really should be in the top 5. theres no '90s group im putting ahead of bone. but of course, the industry been hating on them since day one, so im not shocked. i figured they would have them down in the top 20, but they went lower and then put their underling groups ahead of them,

wow.

Most notably, Inclusion on this list is based on the accomplishments of the group as a unit — not what the individuals may have separately accomplished.

that would be cool if you agree to keep the same energy across the board.
dont change up when its time to talk about the wutang clan and some of these other groups.

and even still, 25 is too low for the hot boys. they should be top 15 at least. why single them out?

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5 or Cypress Hill or Fugees?

Also I know they are influential and all, but can anybody name a second Sugar Hill Gang song lol.

the furious five should be in the top 10.

the sugar hill gang had plenty of hits. some of them you hear all the time, even in commercials, but you prolly just brush it off as old school chit and ignore it.

The fact they saying there’s 49 better groups than MOP is wild
:hhh:

i have them around 40-50 on my list.

just different groups ahead of them that arent on billboard's list.

Ima keep it real
Kriss Kross and City Girls should not be on this list
And Heavy D and The Boyz need to be higher

nothing wrong with kriss kross being on this list.

they checked most of the boxes. they had the impact, influence, the hits, sales, popularity and it was backed by quality music. their albums were dope.
and they didnt have a 106th & park to rely on back then. they had to compete with the adults.

I see at least 3 one hit wonders over mop and black star :mjlol:

name em.

the only group with less hits on here than black star is little brother.

this list is trash, but i wouldve left those two groups out as well, if we're gonna keep the same energy across the board.

Kid N Play at 43? hmmmmm

i have them a lil higher.

where you got em.

i agree & disagree.

part of this is him just trying to disregard everything in hip-hop that came before him. he says 2pac is too old for him because he was just being born when pac was in his prime, but then he turns around and talks about how much he loves Jamiraquoi.

only in hip-hop do we disregard our own history. and to make matters worse, he turns around and big-ups some old white rock chit from the same era.

now the part i do agree with is that alot of these young dudes running around talking about 36 chambers & RTD are indeed performative sheep, just cosigning what they read on the internet and see shoved down their throats in documentaries. you can tell who is genuine and who isnt.

The problem is that even Billboard isn’t following their own rules. How is G Unit at 19 if we are only considering the group albums?

Hot Boys are not better than EPMD, regardless of what you consider, but it’s even more obvious if you are just counting Hot Boys albums and not the solo work. Correct me if I’m wrong, but they had the one group album after they went nationwide?

Migos over Mobb Deep is also an embarrassment.
not really :ld:

i could see the case either way, but migos put out multiple classics for their era the same as mobb, and were more successful commercially, and impactful. migos is firmly a top 15 group IMO, mobb is in my top 10, but i also wouldn't bat an eye for others who got them in the 10-20 spot

Bone is personally Top 5 to me. Top 10 objectively. Still, Bone is a group that peaked in 1995-1996. When they dropped the double album in 1997, they were still popular, but it was a drop off. I felt like they bounced back with BTNHResurrection, but then there's Thug World Order. Then they came with Strength & Loyalty and then they dropped that album from 2009 or 2011. I don't remember liking anything from it. They were one of the biggest groups of the 90's commercially, but time didn't stop in the 90's and they got lapped in the '00's.

LOL. They got the Diplomats over BOTH groups, but the takeaway is the Hot Boys is not better than EPMD?

G Unit only had ONE commercially successful album considering this a Billboard list in which sales/success is part of the criteria. Being 19 is generous considering Terminate on Sight was a flop. They had huge impact though especially with the mixtapes and the albums never really lived up to the hype.
