The Pistons when they won were built through FA/Trades. The only player they had that was drafted was Tayshaun and Darko Milicic. I'll give the Warriors credit with Curry/Thompson but like i said if you want a Championship squad you most likely gotta get your prized possessions through FA/Trades. The Nets had a finals potential team last year but D-Will constantly sucking stopped that from happening. When the Heat won in 06 their squad was pretty much Wade/Shaq(trade). Mavs won in 2011 because of God mode Dirk(drafted) and the rest of the team played like a team. I'm not saying lottery picks are useless it just annoys me that people think the Nets have no future because of they won't have late round 1st picks.

There is a HUGE difference between F/A and trades....One you need assets for (draft picks) and the other you dont....so don't lump them together. None of the teams you mention the core was assembled through F/A....like i said the Heat were the only ones. We can obvi trade still, but w/ no picks it'll be hard....and our "contending" team we had w/ Pierce/KG was built how i mentioned......Our future will be tough no doubt but i agree we still have one. Despite a lack of picks there are a decent amount of interesting young players on the team. For all his faults, and theres plenty of them, Billy does well in the draft and bargain shopping in FA.

Man last years team was dope and fun to watch and I truly believed it had finals potential. It sucks that Lopez got injured and the entire squad was just a 1 year wonder.

If Lopez gives us what he did at the end of this year + Joe gives us something tangible + Our new guys keep on developing we will be somewhat competitive.

If you reallly think about it, we improved at all spots except a minor bump at PG....Overall this is a better team then last years.
