my only problem with the situation is when they look at being black as a bad thing. like that girl in the video that says she doesn't want to be looked at as "ghetto." she has a bad understanding of what being black is. the title of the documentary itself is offensive to me. like there is a problem with being black.

I ain't even gonna lie, I didn't read the whole thread (its 3.25 am in Belgium). But I'm mixed and I find the title offensive. But the thing is, even though I a seen as "black" by most europeans/whites, I am also seen as "white" by many africans/blacks. I lived in Africa (Central African Republic) and I experienced that rejection first-hand. So let's not act as if Blacks are ALL considering mixed persons as their own. BUT the thing is that as mixed you are neither black nor white, but both and then something else. So if a mixed person says "Oh, I'm not black" he/she should add "neither white". We got enough shyt having to "choose sides" and whatnot. I'm both AND neither, no one (black or white) is gonna put me in a box and whoever tries to gets the
