One of the biggest frauds in hip hop is the attempt to make The South ONE

And the only reason it was done n pushed....so Cali but mainly NY , will finally have competition.

In reality, GA FL LA TX each have their own sound n lingo. They didn't need to be fitted under the same umbrella

Meanwhile 95% of NY state rappers really come from the 5 Boroughs of NY City. That kind of dominance from such a close proximity can never and will never be duplicated.

NY doesn't need to attach itself to Jersey Philly DMV to stand tall.

Atlanta's run could continue with NYC's lack of prominent/sustaining new acts. But I wouldn't call it the South's dominance. It's Atlanta's dominance. Just like New Orleans run was their own. Houston's run was their own....

He didn't say Cash Money.. He said the South..

The south took hip-hop over for a long time. I don't know about keeping it alive. It wasn't dying. But they were the kings of it for a long damn time.

The East Coast will always get the most shine cause it was created over there. They had the longest reign from inception to about NWA.. Then Biggie/Wu and others brought it back.. They held it again to around the 2000s before the South took that shyt over. I'd say it's way more global now and anybody can be on top.

But at the end of the day, the east coast rappers are seen as the pioneers and most of the labels and publications are on the upper east. And, like you said, every era still had an east coast rapper going multi, so they was always right there. They'll always get the bias

That’s my point. It wasn’t dying at any point so there’s no region who can claim that they kept it alive.

There’s no year where you can say if it wasn’t for the south hip hop might’ve been out of here. Every region plays their part and there’s nothing stopping them from celebrating their hip hop history.

Want to give credit to the region that killed hip hop for keeping hip hop alive brehs, make it make sense.

Spitting gibberish over beats and sounding stupid did become a wave...no doubt, but THAT'S what you want to give credit to? Like making it cool to be trash? That deserves respect? I disagree.

Hip-hop in my world eventually died when the south took over.

And I'm saying this as someone born and raised in the south.
