:childplease:Even if you want to make the argument we should be applying the same amount of scrutiny to rap, I don't see what it has to do with this scene. You sound like one of those folks hollering, "where's BLM now?" whenever a black man dies at the hands of another. Completely disingenuous and off the mark.

If someone is gonna take a swing at portraying something as beloved/sacred as a fukking black barbershop, they could at least be remotely accurate. I'd say it's one of few exclusive spaces we have in this country so why the hell would you be okay with this depiction? Barbers be doing all types of wild shyt...bootlegging, answering personal calls etc but I ain't ever seen people speak like this, especially in front of a woman. They're made to look like sexual degenerates who can't run a business and (for good measure) don't respect black women.

I agree, it's shyt writing and based on this Twitter clip, I won't be watching. My critique is more about the disparity in responses to some show no one on here would watch and the art form most people here consume to some degree or another.

Bruh I've been going to barbershops my whole life and there's no way you'll hear language like that, let alone cussing I'm front of women
Yeah I've never been in a barber shop that vulgar..even when I had that young cat cutting my hair a lifetime ago..they don't get wild like that.

it’s obviously a bit of hyperbole. And a lot of barbers are actually super professional. But it shows you can make fun of barbers/barbershops with out being as disparagingly out of touch as Harlem clip was.

I knew that.

The only thing that bothers me about going to the barber shop is when my barber stops, mid-cut, to answer his phone and carry one a conversation. I've never heard any type of vulgarity being spoken when at a barber shop, and I've been going all my life. With that said, I'm not here to discount anyone else's experiences. As we see, on this very website, homophobia is very much alive and well in the black community.
