A lot of us black kids that grew up in the suburbs and had predominantly non black friends went through a lot of this kind of stuff.. I remember being in the 6th grade and finally breaking away from the non black kids I had known since elementary school.. Got to the point, I knew being friends with those kids wasn't good for my self esteem.. The amount of weight that lifted off my shoulders, after I walked away was insane.
