rep. great article. I agree with most of it. I also find it a little strange there arent a lot of indian characters when a lot of programmers are indian.

as for gaming tho, yea that over the top stereotyping, and the language is just at first I thought it was because a lot of developing teams are japanese, but actually, the japanese games are less stereotypical than the western ones, look at MGS or Bayonetta.

I dont care what folks say tho, Kratos is black to me.

For all the hate that The Order gets, it was definitely nice to see some indians that were brown in there. I hope we get an AC game in india as well

On the topic of hair, anyone played Sunset overdrive, the game has some GREAT black woman hairstyle, curly bouncy hair I still need to check the male hairtypes though.
The funny thing is even in asian games the protagonist usually just looks like a white person (looking at you Final Fantasy and all those other anime ish RPG's).
Games with actual Asian looking protagonist like Yakuza struggling to even get brought over here

these two quotes are probably the biggest problems with the gaming/tech industry, imo. white CEOs and managers usually hire ppl they relate to, upper class white guys, who have little to no interaction with minorities...i've met a few black, indian and asian programmers from tech companies (apple being the biggest name and a few startups) and the best way i can explain it is they dont care about this issue because they're just happy to be there.

I got a job sir,c redit on a prime time animated tv show and apparently I'm better than I think I am. None of that is the issue. Not saying there isn't always room for improvement. The issue is that I'm unaware of black owned studios... You work for one cuz I'm not tryin to work around cacs and Asians my whole career

Edit: also there's an issue w/ black dudes not aligning themselves w/other black dudes when they have personal projects, at least in animation. I'm not so well versed on games

I took no offense, #hardonartbros should always be in full effect. I just wanna work around black folk/minorities. At one studio I worked for someone said "wow there's a lot of black guys" it's 200 employees and like 6 brehs at least get up to 10%

It's up to us to develop games that reflect us. Complaining to other races to pit us in in video games just isn't gonna cut it

I don't want these white/japanese developers portraying us and fukking up like they do a good 70% of the time. I appreciate fighting games that give us black fighting game characters like Dudley, Seth (KOF), Sean, TJ Combo, Jax (and now Jacqui), Heavy D!, and Bruce Irvin.
