If black nyc Folks want a traditional lifestyle and aren't making major bread, it's probably in their best interest to leave for the sake of their kids education. Something that is prevalent in NYC are cats who end up making "good" money with government jobs and can afford to leave the hood, but often don't make enough to move somewhere where they can give their kids access to good schools.

NYC is great if you are young and single or in a DINK relationship with no desire to have kids.

As sum1 who left NY in the early 2000's I often say to myself i couldnt imagine raising kids in NY. It was peace growing up there, but one of my homies pointed out our Sr year there were 2500 murders and even tho the # now is way lower (about 500) shyt is actually wilder, its amazing the shyt you get used to and think is normal. Plus the gutting of gifted & talented programs for me is one of my biggest issues. There were over a hundred when I was coming up now i read there are only 4 and none in the predominantly black neighborhoods. The regressive shyt that passes for education now is sum trash. They gutted Summer Youth programs where many of us from the 'jects got our first jobs, Boys & Girls clubs mostly gone, after school programs barely exist, kids got nothing to do but get f*cked w/ by NYPD. Guliani & Bloomburg did a number, folks said this would happen but 911 gave them carte blanche. I still got property, I know eventually 1 of my kids will take em over but they'll be adults then let them make that decision for themselves

No I don’t remember that. I was born in the 90’s. This article which you obviously didn’t read, speaks about people who’ve been here for decades. We know people buying houses back in the day is some of the cause of it. But to lose majority black area stronghold like Bed Stuy, Harlem and even Jamaica Queens because of wealth distribution and high cost of living and chalking it up to “well they should’ve got a house, or I’m a black man and I’m okay,” cmon now

My girl and I make decent money but it’s still pricey and she doesn’t like Jersey or upstate, man I’m looking at Houston property now
