That was the number back in the 80s when I was in elementary school. I've learned not to believe it taking the statistics courses I've had to take to get my Ugrad degree. You can manipulate the variables to come up with whatever number you want and at best, and at your most honest, it's only still a guesstimate. Even census-taking is flawed. If you're into genealogy, you see how when there was a fraction of the population the country has now, how huge things like family relation, age and race can change from census to census. I believe the number is higher than that. Same for the number of gay people, 2%?![]()
I find it hard to believe that number only changed 1% point in 3 decades (I've heard 14% as of 2011).
What about our demographic would have caused it to increase? we still have the lowest life expectancy of all races in this country
the Latino/Hispanic population boomed cause of the massive influx of immigrants from Latin America....Black folks didn't really have anything like that. Yeah you have Carribean and African immigrants, but nowhere near the levels of what Latinos have had.
80-2000's had insane amounts of Latino immigrants coming into the country.
