The problem is not OP's dating pool. If the poster has issues with every single man, the poster is the common denominator. @PeridotPuss believes that all men cheat, or are plotting to cheat. That is a problem.


Telling the poster to go expand her options by swirling just makes it seem like black men are the root of her problem (assuming of course that the poster has only dated black men). When she inevitably finds that white guy who doesn't cheat, she will from then on subconsciously believe that the problem has been black men this whole time, just like she seems to believe that all men will cheat.

You are right that OP needs to expand those options though. Maybe there is a specific TYPE that OP likes to go after.

We were friends (but not close friends)from teenage years, got together when I was 25 and he was 28 broke up when I was 27 and he was 31.

Engaged 6 months.

I gave him a chance because I used to have all kinds of standards about job, character, religion, family upbringing,etc.

I have HIM a chance despite his money bc I thought he cared about me and I was dealing with him for the RIGHT reasons like love and trust

When it was all said and done all he could say was he was insecure and made mistakes but still loves me v and wants to marry me

MEan while I'm like THIS IS MY LIFE I could have AIDS right now, why couldn't you just DO RIGHT ???

But apparently I'm bitter for not ponying up and trying to trust again I'm just tryna figure if we're all oUT here telling each other a bunch of BS or if I'm a legit black girl lawst

TBH sounds like you're setting yourself up for these situations and playing the victim when shyt hits the fan. It's good to have standards and priorities but I question how strong they were if you were just willing to throw them out like that. Like could you see yourself building a family with a guy where you're the breadwinner? For the rest of you're life? Shyt like that says a lot about someone's character that's deeper than just the lack of employment, and thus also says a lot about you. I would fukk an ain't shyt female with no ambition but I wouldn't fukk with em. Standards depend on what you're looking for, and if you're looking for marriage not only do you have to set high standards, but also re-evaluate the criteria.
