Because every black person has their own standards of what is considered "black".Nothing wrong with sushi by itself
But a nicca who eats sushi all the time, dates white women, hangs out with all white people, etc
That ain’t a normal black person. Dahell you acting confused for

Because every black person has their own standards of what is considered "black".
There are black people in here saying you ain't black if you didn't grow up poor.
Do you agree with that as well?
The whole "whitewashed" not being "black enough" thing is ignorant as hell and only puts black people in a box.
How the hell can black people want anyone to look at us as individuals when we out here saying dumb shyt like sushi makes you whitewashed?
Diddy, Jay and Dr Dre collectively could have started the Black Google equivalent or something years ago but instead chose to pop bottles and stunt on poor people

Build ur own shyt and stop acting surprised when cacs choose to preserve their own stuff. That's the logically thing to do which alot of black folks don't seem to understand. We're too busy worshipping anything not black
Why are you associating our speech patterns with slang? Why can Bostonians speak their dialect and be perfectly respected but when African-Americans speak ours it’s slang? If a Bostonian says “Cah Keeze” or “Bang a Uey” in a meeting no one flinches but when an African-American says “Axe” instead of Ask they are considered unintelligent.
I don’t know you but you’re sounding like a hit dog that’s hollering. This article called you out and you didn’t like it because it made you feel insecure about your lack of connection to the culture. You associate White with right and you made it clear when you assumed I wanted to speak slang by saying that I don’t want to have to talk like White people. At the end of the day African-American culture is very respectful...our hair, our dialect of English, our method of salutation with the upward head nod, our hand shakes, and all that is respectable but Corporate America hates it and asks for us to leave it at the door in order to get a job.
What we are simply saying is “why do I have to leave it at the door”. Why do I have to walk, talk, and act like y’all to be considered acceptable?

But that's exactly what this thread is all about. WASP companies exclusively hiring assimilated black folk raised in WASP culture, effectively practicing discrimination considering how much race and culture align. This is reality. If you two and others could let go of your emotional baggage and pay attention to what's being discussed instead of treating this thread like a reddit subforum full of token black people purging their emotional catharsis about not being black enough and 'speaking proper grammar'If it’s one of those self-hating Uncle Ruckus type folks that’s one thing,
and 'getting good grades in school'
we could have a productive conversation.
