Don't know if this counts for anything(since the authors here are white), but it seems like covers tend to get white-washed a lot even when the character is explicitly described as being black...Examples.

Yep they Media and the publishers will alter the covers to gain attention whether its from white reading public or make an image appealing to buyers... It's called pandering to demographics...

it's not just that, it's because the unspoken rule that most whites are racist. if they see a cover w/a black woman on it, no matter how good the book is, they'll ignore it.
:mjcry:The reason they made a black character white in movie adaptation of Zane's Addicted it was the way to draw in a broad audience... Smh
