You seem to have understood my initial post...

So I don't see what the hang up is.

I've said numerous times that I don't agree with the argument and consider it invalid, but I understand what they were trying to say. Nevertheless, I disagree and consider it invalid.

Hmm.. then you wording is misleading.

To me, it sounds as if you are saying that you understand where they are going with their point that is illustrated like this.....

white manhood
.
.
.
.
white womanhood = chattel slavery

When I am saying that I don't understand what they are trying to say because the pecking order is more illustrated like this....

white manhood
---->white womanhood
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Everything else

If you are in agreeance, then cool.

His wording was on point. What you're seeing is a man trying to escape from the ditch he dug himself into.

I don't think this person is being serious.

No one loves the patriarchy more than white women and it is reflected, in part, by their votes.

They have their men well whipped which means they can commit atrocities without accepting any of the responsibility - see Emmett Till. They're free to continue playing the victim.

can we discuss this? Apparently this was a discussion that was locked but is being talked about.

Social media has prompted the spread of anti-intellectualism in society.

Tired of seeing think-pieces from people who haven't studied sociology/psychology/women's studies discuss feminism, intersectionality, and racial dynamics in the US.

Perhaps it is misleading...

So, first we agree that one can't be compared to the other.

Second, when I said I understood what is being said, it's more like I see what they're trying to say. I never said I agreed with what was said, just that I see how they got to this ridiculous notion, which is from an extremist's take on feminism.

I believe that the people speaking from this point of view are in fact confirming your first ordering of things rather than the second for some unknown reason.

I mean, male privilege was definitely a thing back then regardless of social status, however it's disingenuous to compare the privilege of male slaves to white women. I understand the underlying comparison of womanhood to chattel, but that in itself dismisses a non-enslaved woman's own agency. And I say "non-enslaved" because what does that argument say about enslaved women? Are they saying there's no difference???

:lupe:
Why do yall make such embarrassing posts like these?
