What if you have desire to work but no ideas?
I would have never thought there would be a need for something like hopstop since the subway maps are everywhere and they're not that hard to decipher.

How many hours per week do you spend thinking about what kind of app to make :lupe:?

The 215
The average app makes $50. The gold rush been over..
This that's why I told dude earlier don't get super hyped off the events like this when this isn't the norm. You can make an app for about 500 but you think that shyt about to get sold to apple for a billi? That's all I'm saying but you can do stuff but also most people aren't willing to put in the work either they hear a story like this and think of the payday not the shyt that leads up to it.

He gets props now......But let that same man post on this website and have him post that same pic saying thats what he looks like and no one would care about what kind of work he puts in, they'd just be focused on how he looks. Which says a lot.

Wait..I don't see any of the coli-militants questioning what he's going to do for the black community with that money yet :mjlol:

I am this is cool and all for him, but how does this help me or other black people? Not blaming him at all, I maybe would have done the same thing. But not enough for me to 5 star this thread. Once again a black man's advancement and innovation ends up in the hands of white folks. But who knows, maybe hell take some of that $1 billion(I doubt he really gets all) and invest it in the meliniod community and black made apps.

Again, not blaming him :whoa:

Spoke too soon.

I'm glad to see this man succeed. I hope he pays it forward by creating educational initiatives for other black youth to succeed or his own company, that would be cool.

Breh, look at what you just posted...really process what you just wrote. :wow:

Its interesting and sad that this is your line of thinking when you receive news that, in a few short years, a black man made a billion dollars in an industry where black people are normally scarce.

You asked "how does this help me or other black people?"...MAKE this article help you...find something positive to take from it.

This helps you by providing evidence that black people who enter the technology space can also make it big. I am not attacking you but ypour ost seemed extremely pessimistic and defeatist.

Read the article...it could inspire you to start a small business. The barrier of entry in the app business is minimal. You don't even need to write an app, start a fruit/smoothie stand or something. I saw a van in my old neighborhood that sells "fresh" fruit salads and as I was walking by I was hoping it would be black owned but it wasn't. It was owned by some asians. The only reason why the asians started a fruit truck (simple business) and brought it to an all black neighborhood is because of attitudes like yours. Any brother or sister can buy a truck, go to farmers markets (buy fruits), buy plastic containers and sell fruit salads or smoothies but instead we are conditioned to see the glass half empty instead of realizing that the glass is actually half full.

You find what you are looking for, so if you look for obstacles, then that's all you will find.

One more thing, the man in the OP is actually working on a project that will invest in black small businesses so get motivated, get out there and start something.

As expected, Apple has decided to shutdown Hopstop.

RIP HopStop, a Gift to the Directionally Challenged

More proof that blacks need to stop selling our intellectual properties to whites for a cash lumpsum and instead keep and build our own institutions. :snoop:
:mjlol: There's no way that app would have survived; too much competition in that space.

Dude did the right thing by selling his startup, I mean that's the point of a startup. :yeshrug:

The thing about competitions, somebody has to win. Why not be the winner? But I guess it's too big a risk and its easier to cash out.

The result?

Another individual 'black success story' with zero infrastructure being built by us at all.
