are we watching the same video?The cop clearly jumped out of the car and approached him calmly and tried talking to him, he didn't come with his gun drawn. The man was drunk and became agitated and then proceeded to grab the flagpole and swung at him, striking him as a result.
Only then did the cop pull out his gun and pop him two times. It seems like a last second decision to either save his own life or prevent himself from being seriously physically injured.
I swear some of yall are insanely bias against cops.

Removing race from it... it's not so much about attacking the cop and getting killed.. it's about what passes as life threatening to a cop requiring him to use lethal force. Still, every situation is different and people have different temperaments, so it will never be a one size fits all thing.
We've already been conditioned to think that attacking a cop in any way justifies him taking a life. If you sit back and think about it for a second, it's really fukked up.
Did he show poor judgement? Yes. He did a really stupid thing.

Cop probably had no reason to even be approaching the dude. i would bet cash they made up this little "he fit the description of the suspect in an assault" after the fact.
The cop is a COP. He should be trained to deescalate situations like that without immediately firing his weapon. A nikka tried to fight me with a bat, i tackled him and took the bat. And i'm not a cop and i have no formal training in take downs. if i can do it he can do it too.

The guy apparently is walking away and the cop is following him at a safe distance. That's when the guy grabs the pole and runs back towards him with it using it as a weapon. The Cops take a few steps back and appears to make a last split second decision.
