The main reason that the trades are so lucrative now is because society en-masse told their kids to avoid the trades because they don't pay well. This created a surge of young people who went for the so called 'knowledge jobs' and left a huge demand for the trades, hence the pay going up. Once everybody gets back into the trades, the salaries will go down.

I'd say that the trades can be a good option for now, but you have to keep an eye on the future and make moves so that you aren't solely reliant on the trades, because once people start rushing back, your pockets could be hurting.
This is exactly what happened

If you were slipping on your grades your parents would tell you "Do you wanna end up doing *insert trade job*?" And now those same trades bring in serious bread:russ:

Black folks have had this disease the worst because our history of labor work and wanting to look good caused us to shame a lot of trade work. Meanwhile Hispanics crept into the trades and came up hard and fast over the past 2 decades

The black men that are in the trades have been eating good but it would be great if we cornered entire trade markets like the Hispanics do with construction/electrical work

They don't have the trade market cornered.

From all the jobsites I've been at, Hispanics are highly labor and not skilled trades.

Hispanics are usually doing landscaping, excavation/backfill, concrete, or demolition. All the electricians, plumbers, and carpenters were white.

It's probably your location because in Texas they definitely are

I've been in Houston 15 years and all the electricians I've met are Mexican

And I didn't say the entire trade market. I'm saying they pick their specific trades and ride

What trades can a black man get into right now? Give ideas breh. I’m trying to chnge fields breh.
My homie I wrote about above just did like 3-4 years in the Navy working on Airplanes and just took a test for his A&P. There is plenty of money out here if you are driven and not lazy.

All the fields are open breh. A lot of dudes retiring, a lot of people going to university. Construction is wide open.

Electricians, Carpenters, Plumbers. They all making $50/hr as journeyman
But don’t you have to apprentice for 5+yrs? Also how do you apply/find these positions? Where? Indeed is trash.

4 years. You start off at $15/hr and move up in wage every year. At Journeyman you hit $50/hr.

nikkas work bullshyt ass jobs for 4 years and be in the same position. Busted ass car, renting an apartment.

I hear you, but how do you apply? Is it one of those ”in the know” “I know a guy who knows a guy” type fields to enter. The new modern way is to go in debt in college and not get a job or realize you hate it and cry.

Low pay was not the issue. There is no prestige in trades.

I wanted to get into my local IBEW as an apprentice earlier this year, but got lazy and let the deadline pass by
