I've been in the HVAC industry for 12 years and I've been preaching the same. That said, at 33 to be 34, I'm starting to feel it in my knees so back to school it is for the engineering degree. But learning precalc? :sadcam:

That's why I'm not going into trades now. Already 32, will be 36 by the time I'm a journeyman. I'm on a decent path right now

I hear you, but how do you apply? Is it one of those ”in the know” “I know a guy who knows a guy” type fields to enter. The new modern way is to go in debt in college and not get a job or realize you hate it and cry.

Learn how to network. Internet right at yo fingertips. Career fairs, hiring events. Hell I'm sure you can go to just about any college and and advisors would be happy to give you contacts

I am not a lineman but was on a call today where the topic of electric lineman was discussed. This is going to be a huge issue, work force is retiring at a faster pace than they can be replaced.

But this year, there are an estimated 21,500 lineman job openings across the country. And demand is expected to grow by 8.5 % in the next four years.

It’s a beautiful thing :banderas:
Job security is great. Price of the brick is definitely going up.

My issue is I am trying to throw the oop to Black people and the only qualified applicants for my jobs are foreigners and old guys looking to supplement their retirement incomes.

We’re about 5 years from a retirement crisis.

Where would you suggest he start? Is there a Website that will point him in the right direction?

Dam 1 cert gang got you right? Dope AF. From the way it sounds getting your foot in door is hardest part, because they seem to demand new people to have 3 years experience lol.. How did you get your start, help desk?

Back in the day I literally called every body-shop in my city until one of them took me on breh, black, white, Arab it didn’t matter.
I put my ego aside and made those calls.

This was when I dabbled in auto body. I’m in transportation now though but it was almost the same shyt.

Edit/ I misquoted you breh and jacked up the edit
