Some were like Willie, who told me he used to vote regularly, but stopped because he doesn’t believe a politician — any politician — can solve his problems.

“You can work and your wife can or your child can work. The dogs can work. The rats and the roaches even working, and you still cannot afford to stay in a studio apartment in South Los Angeles,” he told me, taking a break from selling used DVDs and books out of his minivan.

He continued, his voice rising: “And when was the last time you heard a politician say Black man? When they think of the Black community, think of Black women or Black children, they don’t really think of us.”

Willie ran through a list of government assistance programs, from tax credits to food benefits for infants, arguing that they primarily benefit women. Meanwhile, single Black men are disproportionately homeless and politicians “don’t care.” This is why, he speculated, that Black men vote differently than Black women.

“But that’s OK,” he spat, shaking his head in resigned anger

Whats baffleling to me is that no one thinks to just ask black men what they want. They ask everyone else…whites, black women, LGBQ, Hispanics etc. They just assume that we’ll fall in-line and blindly support a candidate and then act surprised when we don’t show up like they want us to when all you had to do was just ask and craft a policy

Black Men get blamed for everything:gladbron:

I have never heard of Karen Bass until about 2-3 year ago when Biden was talking about getting a Black Woman as his VP.
We never heard of Karen Bass doing things for the Black community here in LA, we always heard and saw Maxine Waters doing things for Black people out here in LA. shyt I use to see Maxine Waters in the streets with no security, just walking

Also I did not know Karen Bass was married to a Mexican:mjlol:

And that’s exactly how they lost us

I noticed her front and center during the border debate a few years ago. The writer has a demeaning tone but she is team lgbtq and a transplant so I'm not surprised.

Nah it was black women who did that, us dusty nikkas just sat there :troll:
It's sad because that's literally how they want to portray it. It doesn't matter what black men do, they get no credit for anything. If you just followed the media you would think the black community was just a bunch of women making everything happen while black men do absolutely nothing. They really gonna be mad when black men stop giving a fukk and don't vote at all and democrats realize how much they need the black male vote.
