Why do think if it wasn’t so effective the GOP fight so hard for voter suppression, gerrymandering and voter purges. It’s simple as if it wasn’t so important they wouldn’t try to take it.
You made the statement

"We have advocated for voting in every single election, every single time no matter how insignificant it seems, but it’s like pulling teeth getting some nikkas to vote in any election other than the presidential election."

Why do you think "it's like pulling teeth getting some nikkas to vote in any election other than the presidential election" and your advocacy is ineffective in our community?

What are you, the politicians and the people who are attempting to influence political discourse in the black community doing wrong?

The thing is we don't even know if Snoop is an LA resident. That's the thing about the article. We don't even know if the few black men she interviewed or spoke on -the singer Avant and a homeless dude- are even LA residents and are allowed to vote in this election. She didn't even hit the pavement to get the real consensus as to what the vibe is on who black men are voting for. I personally live in Inglewood and our mayor, Mayor Butts, is black.

Bass, who's running for LA Mayor which is a completely different ballgame, has to get in bed and on the good side with the Whites, Mexicans, Asians, Jews, Koreans, Japanese, etc, right along with securing the black vote. If she had one-third of rep and history as a Maxine Waters or hell even if she had a hella of a mouthpiece and charisma she would probably be sitting pretty in the race right now. Another thing if I can recall correctly was that Mark Riddley Thomas, a long time LA black city councilman who has huge pull and sway in black Los Angeles, was supposed to endorse Bass but he's currently in a corruption scandal involving USC and she backed away from him. Now she's on her own

I'm an Inglewood resident also.

Yeah Mark Riddley Thomas got caught up with USC scandal and they are going to try to throw his ass in jail. He is alleged to try to do almost the same thing as Lori Loughlin, but you know rules are applied differently to Black people.

Mark actually did a solid job with trying to hold back gentrification in his area, but they had to find something on him.

Karen Bass got Antonio Villaraigosa to endorse her which is a joke, because Villaraigosa cheated on his wife with that anchor woman from channel 5. Karen Bass is realizing that she needs that Black vote because the majority of Hispanics/Latinos are illegal and can not vote and the ones that can are going to vote for somebody White looking.

Folks on here laughed when I said that if Joe Biden really wants that Black support he should pick Maxine Waters as his VP not Kamala Harris and look and Karena Bass is just bussdown version of Kamala.

These 2 tweets from this past week told me all I need to know about that L.A. Mayor's race:

Makes sense why BM prefer Caruso.

No it doesn't :gucci:

You do know that Black men are more likely than any demographic to be homeless.

How do you think this Billionaire will address that in an equitable without further criminalizing black men?

EXCERPT from column
==================

Some were like Willie, who told me he used to vote regularly, but stopped because he doesn’t believe a politician — any politician — can solve his problems.

“You can work and your wife can or your child can work. The dogs can work. The rats and the roaches even working, and you still cannot afford to stay in a studio apartment in South Los Angeles,” he told me, taking a break from selling used DVDs and books out of his minivan.

He continued, his voice rising: “And when was the last time you heard a politician say Black man? When they think of the Black community, think of Black women or Black children, they don’t really think of us.”

Willie ran through a list of government assistance programs, from tax credits to food benefits for infants, arguing that they primarily benefit women. Meanwhile, single Black men are disproportionately homeless and politicians “don’t care.” This is why, he speculated, that Black men vote differently than Black women.

“But that’s OK,” he spat, shaking his head in resigned anger

Media can complain all they want but black men have been trending away from Democrats for years now.

2008 (95 percent voted for Barack)
2012 (87 percent voted for Barack)
2016 (82 percent voted for Hillary)
2020 (79 percent voted for Biden)
* That’s minus 16 in 12 years (This has implications for Georgia, Michigan and Pennsylvania).

You can dismiss and ignore a group of people for so long before they eventually seek an alternative.

Also respectfully this talking down to black men and calling them misogynistic, ignorant, etc is not the wave at all. It’s demeaning, emasculating and a form of mental abuse.

It’s clear most black men aren’t comfortable with who the Democratic Party chooses as their face or representation so something has to give.

I agree, and understand Black men's frustration with Democrats but voting conservative Republican is not the move either.

Above the fray.
No I don’t, and no I’m not.

If we can’t get something then no one gets nothing.

These democrats can think we playing
I tell you exactly how things will play out.,Majority of Black men will vote,,and they will vote for the better of the candidates.

The numbers trend and point to other groups having more voting numbers, lobbies, and candidates coming from their communities from this point on.

The Black men who are politically engaged, will likely examine and take advantage of existing laws and policies. And advocate for more, the same way every group does..,,by funding lobbyists to promote specific agendas and laws.

Those who remove themselves from even voting, will fold their arms and stay where they are.

This spoiler effect you think will happen, and this army you think you stand with? Will have no effect on elections moving forward.

That's why if you read my posts on this topic, I'm not trying to convince anyone to do anything. Practical people will make practical decisions.

But when the day arrives that Dems win despite this boycott,,you would have lost all your leverage.

I'm far from a both-sider, but it amazes me how there's an onus on Black men to vote Democrat instead of the party making efforts vie for our votes. Often enough voting for Democrats is really voting against the GOP. Nothing substantial really changes. The Jan 6 hearings are evident why the GOP needs kept out of office. If it comes down to voting in sync with people who believe males can identify as women, vs normalization of white nationalism, I think the answer is obvious for Black folks.

This man selling used DVDs and books out of a van and wonder he struggling to live in LA. Who the fukk watching DVDs nowadays :mjlol:
He talking about income tax child credit if he had a kid and worked a job and met the income requirements you can get that same tax credit. He talking about food stamps have a child that you got custody of and met the income requirements. You’ll qualify that too. You asking for government assistance for single black men but single black women not qualifying for the child tax credit and food stamps. Sound like he just wanna live on section 8 and collect welfare. I guarantee if that white man wins his situation won’t change one bit. They gonna tell him pull up his boot strap and keep pushing. The tough on crime stuff is just more money to put more black people in jail.

Willie don't exist.

What is the point of voting for someone because they’re black if they don’t e
The point is that it contradicts you're argument and presumed distrust of a candidate...

A Black candidate.

Therefore he's right, you don't trust a Black candidate with a white/non-Black spouse but at the same time betting all in favor of a white candidate with an entire white family.

As I said before in past threads over the last few months when the Coli hated Eric Adams despite him having a Black spouse and Black children which also contradicts the argument...a lot of y'all just love White ppl and prefer them being in charge of everything including your life.

Whatever odd reason many of you have in finding them trustworthy is ludicrous especially considering how history has proven time and time again that trusting White folks with Black ppl's lives and wellbeing is like putting a gun to our heads.

I'll take a respectable Black candidate over a white one any day. Why? Cause I like to Black ppl in positions of power and for far too long we've been forcibly shut out of having a say in politics.

These things matter.
