There are literally millions of people able to create logos, jerseys, muster PR and negotiate. These professionals are all available for hire with anyone willing to pay them.
Okay, so if the resources are there and the players can do so much better, why haven't they done anything yet?

You think Bron and Kobe are just being lazy? As if they choose to only make $20mil a year instead of $50mil in their own "player's league"?

Only on The Coli do dudes think pro athletes could all of a sudden make their own successful pro sports league.

but why would someone like a Lebron leave the Cavs now where he is running the franchise and city. Kobe will be a king in LA forever just like Magic the same for Wade in Miami. In your perfect world if they get all the sponsors and tv contracts, areana space to support this new black league, how much more money would they make? Lebron will have made close to a billion dollars on and off the court by the end of his career, same for Durant and Kobe. Its not worth it to those guys to do what you want. And all those mid level players that you need to fill teams of will want to play in a league with Lebron, Durant & Kobe because that means more money for them in the long run. If i was Lebron or Kobe, i would rather own a NBA team like MJ. They will have the capital and support when they are ready to jump in a buy a team...

david stern always said the players get millions to play if they dont like the rules then go ind another job. as long as the owners have a hold on the players the players have no clout. thats why when players complain about the owners the owners dont give a shyt they cutting the players check.

lebron and them guys are already rich. if they wanna start something new this could make them really rich. you think if a new league starts getting all the best players coming from college that wouldnt cut into the nba? mj cant get marquee guys to come play for him but he can get them to sponsor his shoes.

I hate racist arrogant cac owners as much as the next guy, but this is literally a waste of time to even think about.

100% agree.

Dudes on here acting like the NBA was created overnight. :heh: By the time you were able to get things decently in place, dudes like Lebron, Durant etc would be long retired. And whoever comes up behind them, how are you going to pay them without super rich owners? Where will they play? Some dusty ass arena little to no A/C.....ask Lebron how no-A/C worked out for him. :mjpls:

And let's not act like white players have been worthless in the framework of NBA history. The NBA is the blackest league percentage wise, guaranteed contracts, most star power for endorsements.....and y'al wanna eff it up. :mjlol:

Some of you guys need to go to outside and make friends.

and when these arenas are not filled by these white racist owners do you think cities will not try to fill them?
Exactly. Money talks. Everything ain't about race brehs. Especially now with black consumers changing what advertisers shill (black TV watching numbers are huge right now).

I wouldn't make it a black league. If Dirk wants to come he should be able to. The NBA would no doubt still manage to get some black players since they'd have the money. Other businessmen would have to step up for this to work...Magic, Oprah, etc.

If this league could get 70-80% of the stars it would be quite a coup. We know some players would stay in the NBA, but if this league got LeBron/Rose/Curry/Kobe/etc than maybe it could work. But damnxit would take quite a charismatic figure to convince these dudes to give up the dough for such a risky venture.

You think just because you have "hope" and "optimism" that dudes like JR Smith and Chris Anderson are going to be able to whip up a competitive league?

One that rivals the NBA, which has stood for decades?

Building a multi-billion dollar sports league that can stand up to the NBA/NFL/MLB/NHL is faaaaaaar beyond the scope of people who finish college AND grad school, much less NBA athletes who never even take a single business or accounting class.

This isn't about massa. If these guys were capable of not having to play for these owners in this system, don't you think they would have broken off a long time ago?

They're simply not capable of building their own league and receiving the same $120mil/5yr contracts.
.

:ohhh:... you really DON'T know any better...

  • The NBA is successful (economically) because the NBA extracts its money from the white ticket buyers.
  • White people are able to buy tickets is because they have access to more disposable income.
  • White people have access to more disposable income because they have more resources in their control (globally).

It's a domino effect. You can't create a black NBA without customers.

Before black people start a black NBA, we need to produce and control production of the everyday things that we consume (Groceries, Clothes, Power, ect.).

When you look at any third world country in this world you see that they import EVERYTHING that they consume. They don't produce the food that they eat, they don't produce the cars, electronics...NOTHING. So what happens is all of their money LEAVES the country instead of circulating inside the country...growing the country stronger. When a country doesn't produce anything that makes the country economically weak and it creates poverty.

Same with black people in America. We import everything that we consume and we don't circulate money in our communities so we are economically weak and that is why we rely on white people because they have the resources.

So Amare and all other NBA players should take those NBA checks and be Venture Capitalist for black businesses. More black businesses means more black money so when there finally is a black owned league...there will be customers for that league.

http://www.finalcall.com/artman/publish/Entertainment_News_5/article_101092.shtml

The salary of a football and a basketball coach, Alabama’s Nick Saban ($4.8 million) and Kentucky’s John Calipari ($3.7 million base/$31.65 million deal), is greater than the combined salaries of the 96 head coaches of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Division 1AA and Division II basketball and football teams, and nearly 50 percent of their combined $16 million revenue. And that’s the income of just two coaches.

These young 18-19 year old kids arent thinkin about making a statement like that and sacrificing a possible NBA lifestyle. Even if 1 would, aint know way 100's would. The main problem with our community is that we are blind PERIOD to the fact that our community is in shambles. To think an 18 year old kid would even THINK about going to an HBCU in an attempt to make a statement for our community is laughable
