I donate to black causes I feel are worthy, and this is one of them. I donate to movies, schools, and organizations I believe in. The money I gave to these cats I would have spent more on a bottle of scotch or a night drinking or some weed.

Plus I'm gonna patronize the store exclusively from now on. In Atlanta we have 0 black owned grocery stores. ZERO. So I'm gonna go out of my way, even if it costs extra. At the very least it might convince someone else to come along and open a 2nd store with a better business plan.

Do you bro.

We as men gotta get serious about the shyt we feel is important. Save up our money and go into business providing goods and services that our people need. Eventually I wanna open a supermarket and a gas station specifically because there's so few of them that are black owned in Atlanta and it's a basic commodity we all need.

My goal has always been to use economics as a form of activism. Open businesses, have my product come from black manufacturers, put money into educating black people on opening businesses and the importance of spending money in your own community, and try to dominate whatever city we live in.

Our generation loves to blame the civil rights era for not doing enough to pass shyt down to the next generation. Well them civil rights cats is pretty much all dead or mad old, so it's our turn to build something to pass down. If we wanna fix the shyt we see wrong with the black community, then we as men are gonna have to fix it.

I'm seeing more of our women trying to get their hustle on than i see men, and we gotta address that shyt among ourselves.

nyc has the biggest city AA population. And there are plenty AA stores in harlem

:patrice:

From what I know, NYC has large populations of blacks that are first and second generation immigrants. The AA population is definitely decreasing while the black immigrants continue to increase.

Get your money up and present a business plan to him. He might be interested if he sees you're serious about it.

There's a million and one things that we need to focus on as black people. If we all do our little part we can make shyt happen. IMO all it takes is for one person to be do it, and nikkas will jump on board with the quickness.

Not really, you missed the part where I emphasize black people will never have shyt unless we make moral decisions about our purchases. We don't have economies of scale. Whites and even immigrants have hundreds of years in head starts. Capitalism just snow balls. We can't afford to be pure capitalists we will never have anything.

That's that confusion black people have. Want to embrace unadulterated ideas that can't possibly benefit us, then complain about the outcomes. How's that free market working for us anyway?

Unless you plan on starting your own country then you gotta deal with the one you are in.. And that means black people needing to be smart with their money and make smart decisions. Your line of thinking is reason why blacks happily give millions to the black churches and see little to no return on investment. You can support black business and still make smart investments with your money. We got to get over the mentality that we cannot compete on the same level as white businesses. We can and I have seen it in places like houston and dallas like another poster alluded too. Here is an example of black business that does this that I have been too. http://www.buttonsrestaurant.com/

The truth is a lot of black businesses take advantage of poor and under-served areas the same way as outsiders do cause they know you can go go anywhere else. They offer subpar service and overpriced lower quality goods and pay their workers below average wages. How does that help the community?

Look man, I'm not going to shyt on this black owned restaraunt. But at the end of the day buttons is not competing with Dresdens. If nikkas trying to count pennies they gonna hit up mcdonalds. He offers better food I'm sure but I guarantee you he is "competing" as you put it because black people Conciously support him. It helps to have good food and ambience but alot of restaraunts do. Black people need to say hey this is black owned and I'm supporting it and if it's equal or even worse I'm going. And when black businesses succeed this is exactly what happens. So not a different country, different values that are conducive to our success - not the people that oppress you.

This store is a different animal. It's a health food store where people need healthy food but may not be able to support it. If you care about the health of your people then you also care about the success of places like this. He took a chance to provide healthy options to people who do not have them but need them just the same.. How you compare supporting people like that to giving money to pastors for "favor seeds" is beyond my ability to comprehend.

The question you ask is completely irrelavent. I guarantee the food this store sells is better than any other option in the area. Neither you nor I know his prices or how he deals with employees unless you are aware of something not in the video.

Unfortunately, some black owned business expect to see a profit overnight and charge high prices and low-ball their customers. Sad shyt, but there are still successful black businesses that are build for the long haul and only give better deals as time goes on.

Yeah this looks like a bad investment. Their purpose for needing money seems all over the place. Convenient stores have very small profit margins on goods anyway. Its a tough business.. need to do heavy volume to succeed. I'm all for supporting black businesses ( Although 2 of the 4 the founders of this company are not black) but black people need to be smart with our money as well and not be guilted into giving it away.
I don't know why you are being critical of a company seeking financial support. They were clear on their request for financial assistant to cover their business expenses. I don't know what you read on the first post, but I definitively understood why they need funds for their business. It's hard to maintain a business with overheads in its inception. Most small business experienced the storm in the start. Some will stand, but most are going to fall. This why small business owners seek investors and aim for government/bank loans and grants.
