Why are we even bringing the validation argument into this? Gawd damn just be happy for the people in this film. WE don't need the Oscar validation, but for the black people who have worked in theater their entire lives to get to this point, this is a huge milestone.

It's possible to receive the most respected form of honor in your profession without being desperate for white validation.
