Who's to say that a Starbucks would be dead in the middle of the hood? It could be on the outskirts, between the hood and downtown. Then again in my city, across town there's a Dunkin Donut dead in the middle of the hood. A school, old folks & disable home, and a hospital is all with in distance from it.
These people make assumptions about places they've never lived or lived around

I have to catch myself when reading some of the stuff I see posted on here because if I cringed any harder, I'd implode

Personally Starbucks coffee taste like chalk to me. I drink coffee regularly but I must say I don't go to Starbucks for the coffee. It a great place to chill and focus. If there was a option I would certainty chose a black owned establishment over any of these other spots even if I had to go the distance. The realty of it is there is litterally no options.

Black people in the south don't drink coffee as much as white people. I'm trying to be politically correct. If I had to put a ratio on it I would say 1:3 for whites 1:5 for blacks. But its all circumstantial so :yeshrug:

This is the best answer. Oddly enough this is also true for blacks in other countries I've traveled and lived too. In my parent's Carribean country (majority black people whom are dark and brown skin), "coffee shops" don't really exist. I went to school in the black Carribean for 2 years and didn't drink coffee once. I don't remember witnessing even professional black men and women carrying coffee either. Ironically enough the favorite foods in both those two countries are 1) fried food, 2) meat (chicken, fish, goat) and 3) "stewed" stuff, including nasty things like oxtail and chicken feet. That's surprisingly similar to the American South.

I drink coffee now too but didn't start until a few years ago. I never drank coffee in high school or until I was at least 19 and felt like I wasn't getting enough sleep and losing days because of it. Coffee, honestly, increases the stress hormone in a person's body which isn't good for growth, so try not to drink it. I still want to grow an inch before I turn 25.

Yeah I'm 28 and a recent convert. Definitely is one of those things that I need on most days. Whether it is brewed at home, Starbucks, philz, or a local mom and pop shop.

Dude, I dont mean "luxury" in the classical sense of the word, but to go to this expensive shop DAILY when you can make coffee at home for weeks on end for the same price as one serving is a luxury......for example.

Is Fiji water a luxury item? I would say yes. If tap water is quality or dollar store bottled water is available then why force the rate of luxury water?

Small cup of Coffee at Starbucks is 2 dollars. Even if I did have coffee every weekday from Starbucks it would only be 10 bucks a week. That not hurting most people who have full time jobs.
