Our organizations were infiltrated and destroyed from within.
Our leaders were assassinated. We were left with said c00ns and infiltrators.
A lot of our progress was systematically or outright destroyed (i.e. Black Wall Street).
Black people traded in black ownership for white integration/inclusion.
Heroine in the 70s. Crack in the 80s and early 90s.
HIV and AIDS.
Gang violence from said drugs and profits that could be made.
Lack of employment for Black men as manufacturing jobs were shipped overseas.
Black women choosing government programs over having Black men in the house.
Black men leaving from feeling emasculated, feeling pressure from not being able to provide due to loss of jobs, getting killed, getting imprisoned, falling to drugs while the following generations of men fell to the same problems and also, felt that since they didn't have fathers, it was okay and normal not be fathers.

This is the very short condensed version. Many of the black men who owned businesses back then sold them to white ppl instead of passing them down.

And instead of building up black areas/communities, many of us (who could afford to) moved to white ones instead.

One thing I've always read is that it has to do with Affirmative Action, Blacks had to create their own jobs to survive, but over the decades they've gone in to other's business
