Black people really aren’t allowed to have any fun huh?

This facebook page is really good, for blacks who love science fiction. But notice something, our people are always complaining about the lack of support.
The State of Black Science Fiction

I am a fan of science fiction, and I AM NOT ASKING ANYBODY TO BOYCOTT the movie, black panther. I just want our people to give the same attention, to our own. Just like they do with products from other groups. There are a lot of great comic stories, created by black people. They just don't get the same support and euphoria, because they don't have a WHITE STAMP behind them...THIS NEEDS TO STOP.

Popeyes and Chick-fil-A are another great example of what i am trying to say. This people are making money, using your advertisement ,and then one day, will openly say that you are useless to them.

Why? Nobody respects a group of people, that is dependent on other groups, for almost everything. The food we eat, is not produced by us. The same with tech, architecture and etc.

When it comes to our own, we simply abandon them and make a lot of excuses, as to why we let that happen.

All black people do is have fun and engage in frivolous behavior, despite being at the bottom and living under a state of apartheid. I'm beyond exhausted by the infantile mentality of far too many black men and women. Just got to identify the blacks who aren't with that fukk shyt and keep it moving with them. As for this movie? But don't you think, that this movie and the promotion that it is getting from us, is basically a sign of low trust that we have in each other, and how dependent we are on other groups? Let's be real, would a movie like this, created by a black mind and black owned company, get the same support and euphoria?

AND YES, there are a lot of people making this movie look like some kind of revolution. Like it is going to change most of the things, and blacks are going sit and try to work most of their problems.

Would the chinese or indians, celebrate like crazy, a concept about them, created by blacks?

In a perfect world, you would be right. We would be creating this content ourselves. But even an imperfect vehicle can be a catalyst for change. Black writers, producers and film makers have to go through white companies, that's just the nature of the beast here. And I think that you would be surprised, I think black people absolutely would show out for a purely black movie vehicle made by a great black director. As to your last point, probably not. But they damn sure celebrate whenever one of their own is a lead in a white produced movie, Indians fukking love Aziz Ansari and Master of None. A lot of Chinese and Asians damn near do the dougie whenever they have a non side kick role in a Hollywood production.

I believe that in the past, Asians used to be like this. Not anymore. A lot of them got tired of being promoted as the killers, mercenaries, that are only good when it comes to be the bad guy. Or the comic guy that mixes fighting with comedy.

Asians are doing great movies. From action to science fiction movies. South Koreans are becoming really good with movies.

Look at Donnie Yen(IP Man), he is one of the most successful actors in Asia. And most of his support, comes from Asians. The same happens with Tonny Jaa (Ong Bak).

WOLF WARRIOR 2 is their biggest movie ever, in terms of revenue. Created and produced by them. But still, they were able to make close to 1 billion.

I see all the fanfare about seeing Black Panther going on on Facebook and i'm like "it better not suck"

I think what alot of posters are missing is that Black Panther can be a fantastic hook or a gateway into the world of black heroes, more than a few who are created and written by black artists/authors. Black Panther will do insane numbers, it's on track to be Marvels largest opening origin movie EVER. This will start a gold rush for more black fronted properties and this will be a boon for our creative's and could create a space for a black owned media company that one day will independently create content such as Black Panther. Works by Octavia Spencer and Samuel Delany could be brought to the screen because this movie will show that our people are hungry for this sort of representation and more than a few will want to be in control of how we are represented. Black Panther should be seen as a means to an end, using the clout of Marvel Studios to spring board more black sci fi/fantasy content onto the main stream. Shout out to the breh @Blacksands.
