Now during my time on this board, I have read and said some things that have black people looking at me like.
My thing is, I'm only American by emigration so a lot of things I just consider the norm bc I just don't know.
For example, growing up we learned about thanksgiving through media so naturally, I have grown accustom to making pumpkin pie and I actually enjoy it. But when ever I bring this up to Black Americans, it's always.
Now culture aside, I remember when I first got my puppy my mom asked me where I kept her, I told her in my living room and her reaction was :lbjyikes:.
Conversely, when I was back at home her nurse who happened to be white paid a house visit. She saw my puppy and started hugging and licking her. Mom's was like.
She put my puppy down and went to go touch my mom and she was like and started giving a whole spiel about how when she was back in Haiti, dogs weren't even allowed to come in the house
Interestingly, my uncle who lives in an affluent neighborhood had the cops called on him because he kept his yorkshire out in the back. They said the dog had to be inside so he just ended up giving it away

Now with aspects of culture, I can't remember how many times I've gotten in arguments with my friends about rice not being a side dish. Rice is the main dish dammit!

Anyways, it's very funny how we as people differ on things racially but agree on other things culturally.
Is it ok for me to be black american and like pumpkin pie?
Can I be white and leave my dog outside?
Can I be Caribbean and not eat rice everyday?
How much mayonnaise can I eat before my black card gets pulled?
These questions need to answers!
