:wow: Damn, there's something that just seems way too perverse about claiming whiteness when it really doesn't seem to come up in said person in any significant way. I fukking hate when people declare me white because I'm educated or something, or tell me that as if it's some sort of compliment.

"Oh! You don't act like those dirty beaners that I see on TV! You don't even hang out in front of Home Depot begging for work! Look at you in a suit and tie, and your diction! :ahh:"

Knowledge of bloodline is weak in my fam. My mother was born in Haiti from a dark mother and a mulatto father (so she looks like a redbone). She thinks it may be French, Spanish lineage on her father's side or whatever cac foreigner settled in Haiti to make him so light.

My father is a regular typical Haitian.

I came out a Nick Cannon look a like with an extra 40 lbs.

So I don't claim to be mixed.

shyt must be crazy...are you super light bc mom's is white?

are you culturally black or white?

i grew up on the blacks side, but i know mixed folk who grew up white (Drake etc):leon:

I'd say my complexion is more or less Alonzo Mourning...I'm lighter in the winter though :manny:

That's a VERY hard question, and it's precisely why I'm sometimes confused...Moms was (she's deceased) white, so you know Moms have a big influence on how you grow up, I went to a French school and I was brought up in French, so that's that "white" influence...but I lived in Central African Republic from ages 8 to 16, and was mostly in "black" environments my first three-four years in Europe...plus you got to add that my first memories are form the US (I lived in New Rochelle from ages 3-8) and that I've been following hip-hop/basketball/(african-)american culture ever since, so that's yet another layer to add...having lived in Europe for the past 15 years, I'm def more "white" than when I got here, that's for sure.

But as the saying goes, I'm too white for black people and too black for white people.

But yeah a lot of mixed people tend to "choose" (I doubt that "choice" is ever fully conscious and/or wanted) one "side" or another, which is unfortunate. In my experience a lot "choose" the white side because most mixed guys I know have a white mom and that influence is stronger than the pops, plus around me it's almost always Moms coming from a European country so it even makes "sense" to lean more on that side, education and opportunities-wise. But those who do manage to strike a balance and get both of both worlds, I can only :salute:

the little photo of that dark skinned woman is messed up. i'm sure she never claimed that and some african american searched for the darkest girl they could find just to attach a line to make fun of her for being that dark. with such rich treatment i can't imagine why someone wouldn't want to identify with you :leostare:

Native american as far as I know

My mom has an old black and white photo of my great great great (I don't know how many greats) grandmother. She looks like a real indian with long gray and black hair. Wish I could've met her.
