We need to change that perception... when scifi/fantasy flicks with black leads come out we need to support them heavy... no more bullshytin..

Will smith he has one call bright come on netflix it look like it could be good.

Yup. Bright is going to be on Netflix so we don't even have leave our houses, all Netflix cares about is if people are viewing it at a high pace.

Also Boyega is leading the next Pacific Rim and is all over the posters. I really hope it does numbers or at least makes it budget back otherwise we'll be out of luck again.

It's mostly generational.

Black people younger than say....35 missed that era when scifi and horror were goat. They grew up on BeBe Kids, Boyz in da hood, Poetic Justice, etc.

Also raised in single mother homes without a father or uncle who grew up watching kung fu flicks and horror movies.

:stopitslime: so before you fly in here lying saying you had a father or some type of male bond...what type movies did they watch if they don't like scifi?

:ohhh:

My fiancé commented about this today...he said the last scene of the last Jedi with Luke reminded him when he was 5 and him, his brother, and father watched new hope together...brought back childhood memories

He is Black :usure:

You know some real shyt though. There's a lot of people that basically revolve their lives around being accepted by other people and put themselves in a bubble because of that. They are scared to just live or truly be their own person. They try to shame other people for not following shyt or going along with the show. Maybe she is a star wars fan on the low but is too scared to watch the movie because it's not cool. Sadly, in this generation of 20 and 30 year olds, people are refusing to grow up and let go of this stupid idea of being cool and fitting in after high school and as an adult. That shyt doesn't work in the adult world. Being cool isn't going to pay your bills or get you far in life. That's why so many of us are fukked up in life right now. We just aren't adulting and adulting means taking care of yourself and being your own man or woman without trying to be another man or woman. You ride in your own lane and embrace it.

I see that shyt all the time. I understand because I myself do it depending on what the matter is but I try to be my own person, think and keep in touch with my true self though I am still learning my likes and dislikes.

lol my boyfriend is a huge star wars me d. collects figures, star wars skate decks, all that. i don’t really give a shyt about the franchise and admittedly have no interest in it but i still support his fandom of it and encourage it

bought him this for his birthday last year

it’s important for two people getting to know each other or date to respect each other’s hobbies and interest as long as said hobby is toxic or harmful to the person themselves or their significant other

i don’t get my boyfriends love of star wars, but i don’t have to it. just gotta respect it. i like to gamble as a hobby and he doesn’t but he is respectful. people with chemistry don’t have to have everything in common or like all the same shyt.
