Crazy how much national attention this story got. I know that family is embarrassed.
Our shame, as black people, about this little dude's bad decisions ain't gonna change what happened one single bit.
Our fear about how this will make white people further see us ain't gonna change what happened one single bit.
Understanding exactly how things got to this point for this dude, and how to support the next little nikka in his exact position (circumstances and everything) may just change something.
I wish I could write just how things got to this point for the little homie. Calling him names won't do anybody any favors...except the sect of white people that are now smugly shaking their heads with a barely constrained smirk on their faces.

It's two wholly and completely different scenarios. You almost died because you couldn't kick a habit. He died because he purposely wanted to be a thug.
Which apparently the system "knew" and had denied him the opportunity for a transplant the first go round.
Then they decide to give him a chance and he does exactly what they said he'd do.
No...my bad.. they only said he wouldn't keep up with follow-up treatments.. this dude not only didn't keep up with the treatments as they said he wouldn't, he chose to use his second chance at life to hijack people and attempt to take someone else's life(an old lady at that)...
Not to mention there's no telling WHOSE life he STOLE when he was finally, and, in hindsight, wrongfully awarded the transplant. That was someone else's spot, someone who may no longer even be here because they couldn't get a transplant in time. Someone who most likely would've complied with Dr.'s orders.
So yeah, you're not plucking at anybody's heartstrings with your attempt to garner 'sympathy' for this situation..at least not mine.
And not like they needed any ammo at all, they hate us naturally..but..do you know the type of 'leverage' this gives that system for future denials of transplants for 'troubled' Black youth?
This dude has ruined way more lives than just his.

besides you will never see this story highlighted and mentioned the same way if the recipient is white
but no only that, were he white, his would have had a safety net to rehab him properly
they would have focused on his psychological issues, on what happened to make him this way

I don't understand the cycle though. Both are at fault for having sex without contraception. I mean shyt is free at planned parenthood. Jimmy hats and birth control pills. It's crazy how these hood rats pop out kids like a dog litter. I serious would before making some women get their tubes tide. Especially drug addicts who keep having kids and not taking care of them.

The Black community fell apart once the men no longer had to stay in their communities and create and sustain an economic and family structure. This led to the matriarchy that you see today. When the boots of white supremacy were on our necks, what happened? We were a cohesive community, we had to create businesses to support ourselves, we had to stick with each other and raise kids because we knew that a hostile world awaited us if we didn't stick it out together. Once MLK achieve his dream of integration what happened? Families fell apart, Black men stopped creating businesses and moved to white areas once they got successful, nonblacks then moved in to fill the void which now sucks money out of our communities and puts it in theirs. Add the influx of drugs swamping these leaderless communities and that led to what you have today.
The lack of strong male leadership is why Black people in the United States, Africa and the Caribbean are dominated politically and economically by the White man, Indian man, Arab man and Chinese man the world over.
