Only on the coli do nerdy black women exist too :ld:

@7Revo
They exist, they typically just aren't the prettiest of peaches. It isn't like I havent ran into a few REALLY good looking, full fledged geek girls,
but like their geeky brethren, they are typically fashion challenged, or skinny as all hell or :flabbynsick:, so they don't even have dope looks

to fall back on. It is hard to win people over with your personality if you don't even catch their eye.

Color me a unicorn when I go out to the Comic Book Shops to play Magic and im one of few decently dressed, very fit dudes in

attendance. Nevermind the fact that I am one of the few black ones. The girls are out there, breh.

what? :heh:

Confess: Several years ago, when the sixth Harry Potter movie came out, I found myself shying away from the fandom a lot in fear and disappointment. Many PoC in the fandom criticized the casting of Lavender Brown as a white girl, when prior to that she had been portrayed by TWO Black British actresses. Obviously the filmmakers were looking to establish some sort of film canon continuity, since Lavender was not physically described in the books at all. When Lavender’s character was merely that of a background / extra (but still a listed character nonetheless), she was a Black girl, but when her character suddenly becomes an important part of the plot because she has a relationship with a main character, she’s made into a white girl. When I looked through the notes of these articulate criticisms though, most of what I saw were white Potterheads insisting that “it’s not about race”, “maybe no Black actresses were good enough for the role”, “she was described as blonde in the books!” (She was not, people who say this are straight up lying, and even if she was, being blonde is not white-exclusive.) What’s even worse were the people saying “why would you even want her to be Black? She was the annoying clingy girlfriend!” Like, why can’t Black girls be giggling silly girly girls now and then too? Why can’t Black girls be anything we want to be? Why do Black girls have to justify our existence in a world of magic and fantasy?

Even now that the films are done and so the fandom has died down, I still feel sad that people like me aren’t accepted anywhere.

when i see videos of a black women screaming at mcdonalds over chicken nuggets or something like it's the end of the world. I tend to think they have something to do with the stereotype. they need to take some responsibility and stop blaming everyone else

:snoop: breh that stereotype is over a century old. Its called Sapphire. The angry, masculine black women who hate men and is a damn domestic terrorist.

It's the oldest game in the damn book.

That ain't fair, breh, not in the slightest. I was a book worm since 2. I still had the hood vernacular and speech patterns, but as I grew older,
it got even more complex. Black people like this get judged quite a bit, though usually in the hood.

I got it bad if I did anything "out of character" like join the chess club, geek out and skateboard, etc. Black women get that too. Be easy, breh.

:salute:I had to find that out myself. In the hood, the general mindset is fukked up. You get out...shyt opens up. In the hood I was a lame. Outside of it, an interesting person.

:ohhh:shocking.

Michelle Obama speaks proper English, but she doesn't sound like a cac. Alot of these "People say I sound white" motherfukkas acutally sound like they're doing cac impressions.

Lord if this aint the fukking truth.
I can't relate to this (maybe because of the men I associate with - most are nerds); I'm a HUGE anime fan, and none of the dudes I've talked to (even my husband) thought it was weird. My husband just called me a nerd and we went about our business LOL

Breh, did she ever say she didn't get that shyt in her lifetime? We don't know that. I know for damn sure I did, and half the time it was simply
for dropping multi-syllabic words mothafukkas ain't heard of, or switching to polo shirts when fools were still wearing jerseys and white tees.
Without knowing this woman, who knows what she sounds like.

Even if she has that Valley Girl voice going, that isn't exclusively white, its simply regional.
This the kinda shyt that falls under such conversations as "Acting black." People are who they are.

:heh:Yea, I never thought about it much, but when I did, i'm like "Am I wrong for liking this kinda shyt?" I damn sure wasn't in the company
of black people with half my hobbies, and sharing that with other black people usually led to ridicule.

Don't even get me started on what happens when I got 80's New Wave music playing:bryan:

Sucks that some kids have to wonder if they are "black enough".

no breh there's a misconception here. Obama, stephen A, black radio personalities, they don't sound white to me. speaking proper has nothing to do with it.
personally it's hard for me to explain but I would be able to call someone doing it in real life immediately

can someone chime in here and explain it better?:snoop:
