Every time I break out one of my books, my husband laughs at me and shakes his head. When I break em out on my lunch break, my co-workers laugh too, which is funny, cause most of those dudes are huge dorks.

I got hooked on them in my 6th grade Gifted and Talented class.

Oh ok I never looked as those types as geeks though just people with different interests. I know I had my nose in a book pretty much all my high school life and most of my young adult life. I didn't participate in anything that you listed, lol. What makes these labels so funny is that the people that don't fit in either one are always left out.

That's how it should be, but people tend to feel more comfortable if they can put you in a box.

Are you kidding? Many women would! Even with all of your problems you STILL have more wealth than women and make MORE money. Your issues aren't marginalized in the community, and you have access to things that women don't because you are a man.

Real geeks and nerds are part of a subculture, and most of their habits are exclusive to a very type.

into heated debates about why "Giants can in fact beat dragons" and you derive fun from that? You are likely a geek.

Definitely. I wouldn't call my little brother a geek but he likes all of that stuff and I encourage it because I don't want him to ever feel like he needs to change who he is.

I cant front like i have finished one, but I like the idea of them, that salute was more for the strategy board game and study of astronomy. I still get together with a group of friends and play all type of board games pretty much a full day a weekend each month. Its fun, relaxing and really laid back, we'll setup earlier in the morning put some sports or random music on in the back ground and game till about evening.

Being a geek or nerd is cool and profitable now, its not what it use to be. Its hard for it to even be a negative thing now (which is a good thing) You can read comics and know marvel and DC history and still be mad cool in high school or as a grown ass man. Anime and comic cons, that use to be the end all be all of geekdom... now its huge and pretty normal.


Video games were for lames back in the day, like only nerds and kids played them if you asked anyone that didn't play a game. Now they make headlines all the stars and musician play video games its totally different.

I think in today's world we gotta deal with negative comments from others. Someone calls you ugly or says something hateful...

You just gotta deal with it or move on from it (cause its just words after all )
