The consumerist mindset has wrecked havoc on black wealth. I know y'all hate him but I am glad to see more black people, especially women get hip to Dave Ramsey:mjpls:I know too many black women living in luxury apartments with the usual BMW/Audi/Mercedes/Lexus in a parking spot, girls nights out every weekend, taking 2/3 international trips each year prior to covid, of course with tens of thousands of student debt hanging over their head.

Something ain't adding up with that on a 40-50k job, and theres a targeted effort from the media to push the "independent/educated" narrative especially among BW because it has them spending more money compared to men or if they were cohabitating
That's the downside of this "hotgirl summer culture that's being created. It will only get worse:francis:.

Toughen up? That’s a terrible way to view mental illness
He's right lol. It's not a necessity like other services. I expect jobs such as therapists to get hit the hardest in the next 5 years with the advent of neural networks and natural language processing. We're pretty much almost halfway there when it comes to having AI powered virtual therapists:yeshrug:.

Lol no

There will be more demand for therapists as this late capitalist culture grinds people down and black educated people become more focused on keeping their mind right

Not everyone wants to talk to an algorithm

So Basic Income becomes a reality?

Cause for you to downplay mental health, is basically letting society explode into Mad Max level of chaos.

Its STEM everything, until its for the greater good of selflessly helping people. Then its bootstraps.

Nothing can beat actual human interaction. It is a necessity. You don’t considerate it one but many others do.

this is very true. My dad told me about how black engineers where my pops used to work were paid like 15k less

A couple months ago my mom - a licensed clinical therapist with a Master's from one of the top universities in the country - interviewed for a position as a Clinical Director. The headhunter who found her was very excited to set up the interview. The company was excited to interview her based on her credentials, the salary she was quoted by the HH was $125k; it was perfect.

The interview went well......until it was time to talk money. When she mentioned the $125k, the (white) dude interviewing her balked and I guess said something to the effect of "don't you think that's a little too ambitious?" Now she's caught off guard because that was the salary THEY were offering. When she tells him this he gets to scratching his head and saying there must've been an error or a miscommunication of some kind because that position suddenly only paid $85k. Says he's gonna speak to the HH and figure out what went wrong.

6 weeks later that position is still open and the salary offered is still clearly listed at 125. About a week ago another person - this time a breh - got back to her trying to see if she was still interested. She told him what went down and he said he'd look into it. He comes back and says he feels she'd be a great fit, but the MAX he could get her was 100k "and that's pushing it". She declined.

Setting aside the fact that the white MF really tried to low-ball her.....even with the second offer, WTF happened to that additional $25k? :jbhmm:

Took one look at her OVERQUALIFIED-while-BLACK ass and decided asking for the salary they offered was "too ambitious".

My friend is going through something similar. Her degree is supply chain and when I tell you this girl saved the company millions because her negotiation skills are top notch. She has won so many contracts and negotiated pricing that even her boss couldn’t get. They refuse to promote her. She’s been a senior manager going on four years now while her nonblack less skilled co-workers are being promoted to director positions. She went to different companies and everyone who was interested either wanted to underpay her or not give her a director position. It makes no sense that black women cant move past a manager position in most companies. Has nothing to do with fluff degrees and everything to do with the racism and sexism that still permeates most of these industries.

No offense but that is where your friend messed up. Don't pour everything you have into a job that you can't have equity in makes no sense! Do what's necessary to maintain the job and keep the wheels rolling while looking to level up and leave for more pay or start your own business.

Never ever give more than necessary to a company. Ever! Would tell that to the a man or a women.

My background multiple business owners in various countries!

Unfortunately that’s not her personality. She’s a perfectionist.

That's what they said about certain health related fields. Nowadays they use AI to analyze CAT scans for tumors. There used to be someone dedicated to do that but now AI can do it for us :banderas:. Therapists are next once they get natural language processing down pack:umad:.

This is true but it won't improve anytime soon. Millenials and gen z are too self centered and focused on their body count and going on trips. The women don't want to settle til they 32 and by then the men are finally hitting their stride and don't want to wife a ran thru chick who can't cook or clean

I expect a surge of black men in higher education in the 2020s but it's looking spooky for the black family outside of the top 10%
The education gap between black men and black women ain’t that far off. It’s about a 3-5 percent difference. But I concur with the rest of the post.
