White people typically embrace genres that blacks have given up on for the most part. Don't complain about Macklemore getting shine for rapping still, when you see lyrical black emcees getting thrown in the bushes (by blacks) for whatever mono-syllabic flavor of the month trap artist currently featured on datpiff.com

nikkas just want to turn up, and the proof is in the crowd at the BET hip hop awards follow me? (no griff)
I saw Snoop deejaying at the beginning and try to give Kendrick some shine with "Alright" and the response was eeehhhh, but when he played Future right after them nikkas went straight into robo-L-shaped arm dance mode haha big ole smiles and everything. Might as well been throwing fried chicken and kool-aid packs in the crowd mahfuggas was so happy. :mjlol:

Why do people say this dumb shyt with no proof? Black people are 13 percent of the population. Only black people support her. But this thread is stupid as fukk. You guys have gone too far.

there was an article where white singer Teena marie said she consistently went GOLD off black fanbase only because her soul music was not marketed to the pop radios..

if she could go gold always why cant Badu or jIll ??

all these black coli militant losers crying cuz of music shyt is corny

every single album by a black white brown yellow artist goes gold/platinum because white people buy it what else is knew

you really think that successful black artists are only succesful because black people buy their music? lol fukkouttahere.

its not mathematically possible to be successful in music with only black people buying music. you're only 5% of the entire population you simp losers. its not racism, plants, etc. its math.

go do more education.

Are you black?

Its not a reach..if we as a people had more pride and self worth, we wouldnt tolerate the likes of Adele and Robin Thicke..

I disagree. What do you mean by tolerate? What other recourse is there besides supporting black artists?

fuhk nyggas mad for?

dont hate her cuz todays R&B is trash..

Taking some random bytch home from the club while having too much liquor. lol

blame your artists nygga

Exactly lol

All our black RNB artists are rappers and fake thugs now. Or they went pop and made techno.

The mainstream RNB artists need to represent better. All their songs sound like rap lyrics being sung. So trash lol

I kinda don't agree when he says

"The "She's talented just enjoy the music it's not that deep" posse outweighs the thinkers. Almost like you have to counter-condition them"

Like I'm not stupid, I just enjoy music man. my parents used to have that old school soulful music on repeat everyday. One day on a long car ride my sister randomly got adeles first CD 19 (BEFORE she was an "industry plant") I was like
"who the fukk is this white bytch":martin:

But then after a listen there were a few songs that had me like:leon:

I'm a huge music enthusiast, and I get what the man is saying but sometimes they really are just talented, and you should just sit back and enjoy the music and not think about it so much:manny:

Am I the only one that had to see Adele and the late great Amy Winehouse to know they were white?

From yahoo answers:

Related Questions
Did you think Adele was a black woman at first?
Am I the only one who thought Adele was a black woman?
Who thought Adele was black?
Do you think amy winehouse, duffy and adele would be as successful as they are, if they were black?

Lowkey 'white boys that sound like nikkas the ones making all the money' still holds true.

Besides that, this girl is reaching and she's a little too mad.:jbhmm:

Hmmm, on an unrelated note: Look, its the hand over the eye symbol from another major artist.

I like debating this topic.. For me, it aint really about Adele as much as it is about quality black MAINSTREAM music which I think is suffering.

Nobody thinks its silly to constantly follow the formula of R&B singer with a 16 from some so called hot rapper? It aint stale? The lack of vocal range by these singers dont bother y'all? Or, y'all just dont know any better?

are or aren't?

and the second highlighted is funny as shyt...

Thats a crock of shyt being as tho Jill Scott, Jazmyn Sullivan, Chrissette Michele, Melanie Fiona, Marsha Ambrosius and others have been signed and releasing music for years now. Black radio wont give them the push. They wait on the latest Tinashes to drop records.. White radio will push Adele tho... They pushed Amy.. When they get a unique artist with a VOICE. They push them...

^^You're descrbing 2 different types of "R&B"and the part about black radio not supportingmore authntic R&B/Soul is false. Repost I made last week on the same subject...

Adele isn't making music like most white females today. She's doing traditional ballads and some r&b while most female singers are straight up pop with EDM production...

There are actually numerous white females right here in America that doing similar music to Adele or non-EDM sounding music but they aint getting any play

The lack of diversity in black music is a chicken or egg thing. Is it the labels/radio or is it the audience?

Black music on the whole is still diverse. It only looks one sided if all you know about it is the the top 40 representation. The problem is combination between consumer and higher ups.

Turn on a random urban station, all you'll hear is trap and turn up. These black kids don't give a fukk about anything else.

Not on urban adult contemporary.

White audiences are more receptive to diverse sounds right now...but again, is that due to labels/radio or the audience...

Not really, if that were true, all these black singers doing more authentic Soul/R&B wouldn't have 95% black fan bases/support

you're never going to see a crowd of white people like this @ a Jill Scott or Badu concert

Beyoncé could put out a ballad tomorrow and it wouldn't get much urban play. That entire format is being programmed for the most narrow sound imaginable

you have to make a distinction between urban adult, urban contemp, rhythmic contemp etc..

To be fair, Erykah Badu, Anthony Hamilton, and Musiq Soulchild aren't going to be perceived the same way because middle America was never their market. Middle America is the market that acts like R. Kelly, Mary J. Blige, Usher, and Brandy were reaching back when Erykah and Anthony were getting support. It's not the same now because the people who came up on their music are now adults. It's not the type of music that connects with the youth on the scale that Chris Brown, Trey Songz, and Beyonce and Rihanna do. Point is the music that Erykah, D'angelo, Anthony Hamilton, Musiq Soulchild, and Jill Scott made then and still make hasn't been the dominant sound in R&B in quite some time. That's why people were labeling what they were doing as Neo-Soul because it was a throwback to an earlier sound distinct from the R&B that dominated at the time.

Yup...generational shift like I said in another thread

The reason why she sold 3+ million was of a marketing campaign that was A1, being absent for 4 years, catchy lead single + video, and mainly the choice of not taking it to stream sites. Man, the millenials were tight they couldn't listen on spotify. So they also bought the album.

Dude just sounds a little hurt, mad she played the game how it was meant to be.
