you have to separate marketing tactics from what the actual music is. POP is not a real distinct genre, which is why you can be both *insert genre* and POP

For one, you're making the mistake of comparing two different types of "R&B". As I keep pointing out, Adele is Blues-Soul based meaning she's closer to Neo & Traditional Soul/R&B (John Legend) than the people you described which are "HipHopSoul" (Chris Brown)

It's still black radio. It's the reason radio if formatted to target different demos. Same for the billboard lists that tracks them.
