Adele sound is not r and b. Her music isn't marketing towards an r and b audience. Just because she has a great voice doesnt mean she is r and b. When christina aguilera first came out with genie in a bottle, they tried to say she was r and b. Since then, she started making more pop friendly records. Look at pink. Same thing, Her sound was r and b. Second album changed it to pop. I dont know who to blame. Black media for trying to make these POP ARTISTS r and b. WE need to realize that Adele is pop not r and b.

LOl real sh!t. My cousin sent me a text talking about Adele the other day about her sales. I was like she has a legion of fans. And then the dikkriders who just want to be down, jumped on the wave. I told him IDGAF about Adele or her music, and Im still not checking for her just cause of sensationalism.

Then I threw on some Sza.
SZA's album last year was some :trash:

Adele aint even rnb :what:

She's def R&B in the original sense

I looked Adele up on Wiki.
They have her music genre as "Blue-eyed Soul" :dead:
I didn't even know that was a fukking term

I told yall before that's what she is

That's been a term since the 70s/80s

actually since the 60's

yeah, an Afram (GeorgeWoods) coined the term

woods93whyy.jpg

"Two years down the road, in 1964, Woods coined the phrase “blue-eyed soul” referring to The Righteous Brothers. Six years later, the term got heavy use for the Osmond Brothers’ hit, “One Bad Apple,” when the group sounded very similar to the Jackson 5."

The Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia

Like I said, I never knew about it.
It's hilarious to me.
It should just be "hey white people it's OK to listen to me even though I sound black."

Thats basically what it is. Its white people singing black based, music and using black vocal styles. The precursor to "Blue Eyed Soul" was known as "c00n Shouting" which is based in the BLues just like Soul/R&B

you have to separate marketing tactics from what the actual music is. POP is not a real distinct genre, which is why you can be both *insert genre* and POP

for example @ 1:23

"sam cooke was one of the first to make the transition from Gospel to POP MUSIC but they called it R&B and then Soul because he was AfroAmerican (black)"

Terms like "pop" are just coded terms for marketing purposes (white audiences)

White people typically embrace genres that blacks have given up on for the most part.

:dwillhuh:nah, white people have been jacking black music while the genres were hot/still being performed by it's host population since there's been popular american music. Take this jazz docu on the topic from 1959 for example

HOW ABOUT WE SUPPORT OUR OWN ARTIST INSTEAD OF WORRYING ABOUT EVERYONE ELSE!?
Damn.

SAME nikkaS CRYING IS THE SAME ONES WHO DONT BUY shyt OR GO TO SHOWS.

This is basically it. This is a a clear case where you can easily vote with your wallet (for a black artist) as millions and millions already have (for Adele).

The only thing that really matters is money. If this is a concern for you, go out and support those artist who you believe should be getting the Adele treatment

As for my own personal opinion... there is 0 doubt in my mind that Adele would only be a fraction of what she is now (popularity) if she was black.

No question.

Exactly lol

All our black RNB artists are rappers and fake thugs now. Or they went pop and made techno.

The mainstream RNB artists need to represent better. All their songs sound like rap lyrics being sung. So trash lol

For one, you're making the mistake of comparing two different types of "R&B". As I keep pointing out, Adele is Blues-Soul based meaning she's closer to Neo & Traditional Soul/R&B (John Legend) than the people you described which are "HipHopSoul" (Chris Brown)

There isnt enough black people to make a black artist get the Adele treatment w/o white support. This is a point everyone keeps missing:francis:

All things being equal? I can't disagree:ehh::francis:
