None of this actually talks about his game and his impact on winning and growing the popularity of the sport. He was the first player to add flair to passing and dribbling, regardless of how archaic it looks today, it was jaw dropping and must-see in the 50s...

So yes, he was akin to what Curry is today....

Somebody like Nash was basically evolutionary Cousy, and Nash was still producing at an elite level not long ago. With all of the benefits of being born later and the added nutrition and training regimens there shouldn't be any doubt he could play in today's league...

Y'all talk like 1950s Americans were malnourished and stunted lol.

6 feet tall with no athleticism, no jump shot, can't score at the rim, turnover prone, and can't play defense. How can there NOT be doubt that he could play in this league?

Nash 2-3 inches taller with much more athleticism and one of the greatest shooters ever. You can't compare him to a guy who was putting up 36% on 2pt against zero defense. Even if you assume his wack handles would evolve with the age, you can't just magically give him other attributes that he didn't even have.

Agree to disagree, my brother. I don't assume Cousy wouldn't be able to develop his game in all facets if he was born in '78 or '88 rather than '28...

This is Cousy's highlight reel. If you watch that and think he would be any where close to a star in this league. Basketball aint for you. Sorry.

How are you going to ignore that basketball wasn't as big back then as it is today? The talent pool was a lot smaller. You can't ignore that. I don't care how much training you put him through. He wont make the league today.

cant argue with young people because they dont have life experience ... or any experience with shyt they talk about

you will sit and live through decades of shyt and young people wont even see half of the shyt they prop up
and still wanna argue, like you didnt see 3 - 4 different versions of what they are talking about

it goes for most things in the world... you gotta be a dumb motherfukker to not realize what history actually is
nikkas werent just dropping people off yesterday, today and tomorrow. The game or music or art is built off what happened before. If you arent old enough to see shyt ever evolve you shouldnt have an opinion on it. The game from 60s to 80s changed, the 90s changes ... 2000s changed .... 10s changed ... now its changed. Its not the fact that things were better or worse ever... you literally take what you have at that time. If you put Harden in the 90s he cant play because every move is gonna be a carry or walk and he's gonna get handchecked. Same with Embiid, you cant expect him to finesse and shoot in the 70s when he would be handchecked and most of his dribbles would be called a carry immediately. The game is just different, you cant judge something so far apart when the game was entirely different. shyt, in that era if your hand even went under or on the side of the ball it was a carry...they didnt believe in that hesi shyt... hesistation is literally by definition a carry. It wasnt even being thought of to do that because people would kick you off the court.
dude above is mad dumb too saying Cousy wouldnt make the league today.... that's wishful thinking I can name hundreds of trash players who've made the league for 5 year minimum that didnt do shyt, outside of a dude that won and completely innovated the game in general with no blueprint to rock off of .... yall are mad weird. That's like saying Kareem didnt dominate and innovate the game in areas that are still seen till this day ... but he wouldnt be a great player because of "talent pool" lol

The real question is who winning a one on one , jj or Bob?

That's not a question, at all. Cousy said, "Every time a player's feet leave the floor, he's made a mistake" and couldn't hit a jump shot for shyt. He would have literally no way to score on JJ whatsoever. Meanwhile JJ has 5" on him and infinitely better shooting touch - he would shoot over him, post him up, take him to the hole, do literally anything he wanted.

Lmaooooooooo @ this clown shyt. Cousey and 99% of the players back then wouldn't make the league today. Even with modern training. The talent pool simply wasn't as deep as it is today. Those players potentially weren't even the best at the time. I'm sure it potentially had players in Africa, Europe that would have blown those players away. But they never even had access to a basketball.
And the players today had access to a basketball AND knew how to play basketball by watching the people you shyt on.. So where exactly would they be if they had nobody to copy off of and improve?? They'd be the african players in the 70s, as they also didn't have the NBA to watch and improve upon...

Dr Malcolm said it best...

You didn't earn it.. You read what others did and took the next step

Young boys don't even know that switching the ball to your other hand was a VIOLATION! But they want to bring up ball handles as if they were even allowed to cross over... As if they were just so retarded, they couldn't imagine switching to the other hand
