just about freshness. if they sell dead lobster, no telling how old it will be. break open a lobster claw and a bunch rotting meat.

the whole murdering something 'humanely" as a concept is low key comical anyway.
you only think this because you grew up buying food in stores.

killing humanely actually affects quality of meat. something man knew very well when he still mostly hunted and cleaned his own food. something people that farm know. you treat an animal well until it's last moments.

Japanese even have methods of killing fish and other animals humanely for the sake of better food quality...

you are far removed from the food on your plate to the point that you think this is some kind of dumb comical thing. ok that's just how modern humans move... :skip:

only with crustaceans because of bacteria. doesn't mean that humane killing is some comical joke. it has validity
It does, actually, because this particular issue is proof that it is not about food quality or tainted meat. but some misguided and subjective sense of morality that is more symbolic than anything because the end result is ultimately the same. now i'm not contesting you saying humane killing maybe has flavor or health benefits. If that's the case cool, you wouldn't even require a law to do that then, you would just advertise your meat as such and charge more money for it like they do with organic food.
The fact that they are making it illegal though, means that is isn't about that, and is more a moral issue. which is laughable imo.

Gang violence...
i dont eat these vermin, but i have seen people make drunken lobster with a pot full of champagne and the lobsters were very slowed down by the alcohol. i can imagine they didnt know they were being boiled. i guess that is the most humane way to do it, LOL.

This is actually interesting, I didn’t know this until now

So the lobster tails they sell in supermarkets are already cooked to some degree? :jbhmm:

Now that i think of it, i don't think i've ever seen raw uncooked lobster that wasn't still alive.
the one's i've seen are always pre cooked and then frozen. very rubbery compared to fresh lobster.
They sell canned lobster meat too, but i'd only use that to make lobster bisque or something.
someone else might know the answer to that.
