He was reading jokes off a teleprompter and delivering them with the comedic timing of a gerbil on Xanax :scusthov:

He shamelessly admits that he didn't try hard when it came to doing tv at ESPN. Would just show up without much prep or rehearsal.
One of the writers was from sohh (RodimusPrime)

They have similar profiles, Foxworth went to MIT if I recall correctly

Bomani isn't finished, but he has to choose his next move correctly. And his next podcast he'll have to get off his high horse.
Dominique Foxworth? He played college football at UMD and Harvard Business School.

Bomani won't touch politics because its outside of his lane and he won't get to be the "smartest guy in the room" in that arena. He has a dry personality, a Mr. Know-it-all, rehashes the same corny jokes. I give him his credit for always finding a job but he should be in the background. He was perfect on Around the Horn and the Dan Le Batard Show, but him on his own is just too much.

Wasn't really clear why he got a second season. I think execs like the idea of Bomani a bit more than fans actually support his work so I'm sure he'll land on his feet. Dan'll scoop him up or smething.
Deserved. Show was pure trash
Starting to think the only consistently good thing this guy has been involved with is the morning jones (or whatever the podcast with DJ mike hitman, stacy from brooklyn, rodimus prime and those folks was called)
Even the evening jones was kind of mid since as mentioned dude used to be on there like it was a chore to interact with his own fans
Wish these networks invested in Michael Smith or some other breh the way they keep trying to force Bomani as a thing

TYRONE GA!
Bomani used to do this podcast called Evening Jones with Bomani Jones.
And he would disrespect the people asking him questions all the time if they asked a question he didn't like. Literally cussing them out.
Kinda showed what type of person he was.

I fux with Bo, but I stopped listening to the Evening Jones because of that shyt. I thought this nikka had to be trolling with that. How you gon shyt on your audience like that? :dahell:

The Right Time is flames tho.

Morning Jones was a fukkin classic too.

Not shocked the show got cancelled either. Seems way more natural on Right Time vs the show. Still liked the show but the teleprompter shyt was ehhh. Show definitely improved from the 1st season tho. Didn't like that the interviews were so short. But him talking to people in the streets was more natural and was much better as it wasn't scripted and he could just be natural with it.

He'd probably be better and happier focusing on higher education but I get it, bullshytting about sports is way more lucrative.

The sports talk realm has been going in the exact opposite direction of Bomani Jones for years now. There is no room for reserved, grounded sports discussions. Everything has to be bombastic, resentful, and curated for viral moments. This is not me saying he's the smartest man in the room, I'm just saying he has no interest in pretending to be the dumbest man in the room, which is what ESPN/FSN/etc want.

I'm not sure what he should do at this point. I just hope he didn't make any long term, big purchases with the HBO money because I don't see another big check coming anytime soon. My dad loves his podcast but he's the only person that I know (outside of myself) who genuinely fukks with Bomani. Maybe radio is his best shot at this point, because TV seems dead for people like him.

Yeah he's kinda a man with no country. He's definitely an academic and intelligent but he has a very difficult time not coming across as smug which puts a hard cap on his marketablity.

I don't know who would consume the content he'd be best at putting out. It certainly would be an extremely niche audience. Kinda hard to put him up vs the minstrel shows with SAS, Shannon and the like

Thought it was MIT's business school. I stand corrected.

I meant they are both educated with advanced degrees, and they approach sports discussion from a non-hack perspective. Anti-Coli if you will

Wilbon, Kornheiser, Foxworth and even that jit Pablo are all educated, but they actually come across as genuine and engaging when discussing sports. Bo just not entertaining or likeable. Foxworth is actually who Bo thinks he is :yeshrug:

There's a boot camp for former athletes devoted to creating the next Stephen A :mjlol:

NYTimes Article: The Boot Camp for N.B.A. Hot Takes and Analysis

Hours later, Rob Parker, a Fox Sports host and an adjunct professor at U.S.C., gathered the players for what might be called Hot Take O’Clock to show them how to throw verbal bombs. He shared directives like “Don’t stay in the middle of the road” and “Make stuff that you can pull out — ‘Meme-able.’”

It’s OK to be wrong,” Parker said, adding that if they could be right all the time, they “would be in Las Vegas making money.”

Sports talk is fukked.
