Vice's mission is to exotify and hyper-sensationalize either non-whiteness, or poverty and the environment around it into bizarre otherworldly, nat geo safari expeditions. Like animals. The subjects in these videos are zoo animals, and the same ironic Cacs in glasses walking around narrating like they trekking in alien territory, the colonists.
fukk them.

Vice is such a shytty publication
Their anthropology style journalism is getting old fast. How many documentaries you gon make about life in the slums?
pt 6
Maybe it's because Compton is like an hour away from me but
I'm ultimately not against them covering artists or the area itself.
What kinda rubs me wrong is exactly how @Concerning VIolence describes
these documentaries. When it's done wrong or terribly it comes off like a form
of blaxploitation where some intrepid lily white explorers venture into the world
of Black American Savagery.
However when done right, it can completely rip away these beliefs and depict
the people in these places and their conditions as human and REAL.
Now I don't know how well this piece was put together, it could go either way.
I might check it out but I'll probably immediately stop fukking with it, if I get vibes
of the former not the latter.
