Contract is a contract, if it didn't specify singing was involved I'm with Miguel on that :manny:

Now... to the other stuff that was going on, typically any dude screaming "get the fukk out of my face" to the top of there lungs ain't trying to fight, so not sure why Miggy was being held back :russ:

Verbal ot not...he was not obligated per the contract.

Haha someone was telling me about this, I saw this thread, didn't know it was Sidebar.....Right down the street from me, been there many times over last 5 years or so, but it's a trashy little sweatbox with low level drug dealers, addicts, hanger ones and industry people, a bunch of people in their mid 30's still proud to be in the 'nightlife' scene....It's pretty disgusting, I don't think I've been there for a year or so. Definition of a sleazy, needlessly pretentious place....The main doorman is a waiter at a higher end spot, dude serves people one night, and plays cool at the door the next lol

The owners of that spot, RMD Group own and operate about half dozen more spots downtown.

Drake does club appearance for big events like NYE. big celebs like Kevin hart do it too.
Drake does do them for smaller settings too. He was at Bliss in DC after his concert here and they book everyone from lil scrappy to Drake. These artists ain't turning down hundreds of thousands to sit in a club where they're completely catered to for a hour. Drake even performed too.

after party promoters are literally the scummiest and lowest dudes out there in terms of promoters. this type of shyt happens on the reg, where they'll pay for a walkthrough or appearance/host and then try to goad them into doing a couple songs.

typically, artists will most likely do a song if they're into it, but NEVER do they get billed as performing. that'd break a clause in the deal narrative and legally the artist can just leave with their payment.

at the same time, the crowds that go to these kind of events are also lame as fukk. you know you're not going to see your favourite artist perform, so why bother spending about the same $$$ or more just to see them awkwardly stand around with their crew and announce songs every now and then. it's just not worthwhile.

it's a great way to get a bit of extra money on tour for fun, but you have to align yourself with the right people and never ever do anything you're not getting paid to do. booking agents would generally frown on stuff like this because it doesn't necessarily do anything for an artist's career other than put 5-10g's in their pocket for a couple hours at a douchey club.

I like how you went from "I've been there a bunch of times within the last five years" right into "that spot is overrun by two bit drug dealers, addicts, dikkriders and oldheads."
:francis:
So which one of those categories do you fit into breh?

Haha, well none of those categories....There are others, that just don't represent the majority that I fall under, and then, the obvious, unmentioned category which provides most of the motivation for anyone to go is the girls.....I haven't had a drink or drug in 10 years, but my friends and social circle still have at least 1 foot in the club scene, so it was around 2010/2011 when SB reopened or rebranded, that I went there with friends on a somewhat regular basis. Either promoters, or friends of mine that needed to get a table every Friday night to attempt and talk to women....It's not like I am saying it's any sleazier then any club in the rest of San Diego, or in general....I think last year once with friends and some girls we were in there, my skin was crawling. It's disgusting.
