Is there anything new in this book that isn't in his lectures/vids? I've seen a great deal of his vids cause I'm subbed to him on yt. I've been recommended this twice now.

You should check out Protein aholic.

Will do..thanks.

Not sure. I prefer reading and never saw the lectures.

This one is really good too

read that Bible

also, what exactly are you trying to do with your reading? Reading to just read, reading to improve a certain area or what?

I'm not religious bro but I do read it every now and then to prove a point.

I read to gain knowledge and to educate. I have younger siblings that need a role model. My daddy ain't shyt so I have to do it. As far as improvement in certain areas, I guess the only areas would be history and maybe learning Spanish. I need to get some self help and money management books.

Recommend whatever bro, anything but non fiction. I'm open for whatever. Pause.

Edit 2: shyt came out sideways :francis:

I see you have the "History of Money"....great book. You're only the 5th person who has ever had (or heard of) that book that I've known of.

I will recommend two reference books.

Henry Louis Gates IS a clown of the highest order, but I don't think there is (in book form) a better clearinghouse or source of general information about African people anywhere else.
There are 3 versions of the encyclopedia.....
. a 5 volume hardcover set that's wild expensive still,
the regular version (about 2100 pages and 10 lbs),
and the small edition..paperback about 1200 pages

get the regular version and make sure its THAT one. I've paid as little as $ 7 and as much as $20 for it
*Note it's a print encyclopedia from over 10 years and it''s not updated each year...so it's dated in that sense, but it's a GREAT reference book.

The History of Money was a steal ($6) couldn't pass that up. Where did you buy your Aficana? In store? Online?

I'm trying to hold off on those huge books. Really want to read through them thoroughly. I have Grey's anatomy, an anatomy book. And I can't keep up with it bro. Not enough time for it. A book like that I have to take notes while reading.

Good looks tho.

Some highlights from my reading this year:

"Making it Stick: The Science of Successful Learning" (going through this one for the fifth time, if you want to know more about how we learn and how to truly succeed in the classroom, this is it)
"Mindset: The New Psychology of Success" (Felt like I could tackle the world after reading this one, highly recommended for anyone scarred/effected by stereotype threat in school :mjpls:)
"Mastery" (the book that ultimately tells you where our learning leads us, provides many examples of masters in their field)
"The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do In Life and Business" (teaches you the exact makeup of a habit, and how they can help you when applying/learning new skills)

My interest is in how we learn, human history (especially as it regards technology), the brain (neuroscience, cognitive science which I plan on getting into later) and in general how we go from knowing nothing about a skill or area of life to having the skill turn into an extension of your self (mastery, creativity).

Other books I plan on reading/haven't finished yet:

-"Hackers and Painters" by Paul Graham (haven't even started and in the little time I've spent programming, I knew there was a link between programmers and artists :russ: )
-"The Creative Habit" by Twyla Tharp (:patrice: hopefully this'll help me in my pursuits)
-"Thinking fast and Slow" by Daniel Kahneman (this one doesn't read as smoothly as the others, trudging through this one :sadcam: )

These books gave me a good start in my research into how we learn/create, maybe they'll help you all out too. :obama:
