I saw an interview with him a while back.
Whats the basic point of this book ?

Basically the author says most of us have lost the ability to concentrate in this digital era. We are hopping from link to another without really doing anything useful. Our brains love this, its the primitive default and holdover from our legacy as monkeys, however meaningful work takes place through long stretches of intense focus, say you one learning programming or engineering or music etc.

This below summarizes it well

Deep work is the ability to focus without distraction on a cognitively demanding task. It's a skill that allows you to quickly master complicated information and produce better results in less time. Deep work will make you better at what you do and provide the sense of true fulfillment that comes from craftsmanship. In short, deep work is like a super power in our increasingly competitive twenty-first century economy. And yet, most people have lost the ability to go deep-spending their days instead in a frantic blur of e-mail and social media, not even realizing there's a better way.

fukk fiction. Read master key and super brain. They empowered me. I'm trying to read Russ's book on meditation next.
I've heard about Master Key(system?) multiple times in the last few weeks

The premise people essentially lie about everything from social media to interaction irl, but the only time people aren't lying is when they're typing something into the search bar.....

There's random trends like a spike in racial slurs during MLK day :mjlol:

Im in the process of reading Marcus Aurelius Meditations. Stoicism is a very interesting philosophy and its practical
Word, stoic philosophy is really interesting. I loved meditations when I read it, loved the way it was formatted. Aurelius seemed to have a good head on his shoulders, except for handing the empire to his son who fukked it up:mjlol:

If you haven’t read it I suggest reading Epictetus discourses.

I’m trying to start a new book but not sure if I wanna read some fiction or the souls of black folk.

Just finished reading Devil in a Blue Dress by Walter Mosley. Really liked seeing the element of mystery incorporated into daily black culture. The little short story "Crimson Stain" at the beginning of the book was dope too,

Why do so many bum nikkas keep reading these art of war, 48 laws of power books? :mjlol:
If you actually absorb and are able to apply in real time what these books are saying it really elevates your mental, your ability to think thru and understand certain situations and how you approach some things in life

you scoff at books like these and you might not even know when youre getting got:umad:

I haven't been reading as much as I can lately but I been heavy on detective/mystery genre. My heart literally be thumping at clues and thinking you know who did what and the twists and turns :whew:

This lady Karin Slaughter wrote a mystery book so good I had nightemares. That's how serious that shyt was. I had to chill out from her for awhile.

Just finished a drama to get some "funny" reading done. Carl Weber good for those twists.
