it sucks that the nets are still in it, seems like a foregone conclusion that the nets are beating everyone :francis:
I think it sucks Joel got hurt, bc that's the only team remaining that can really do something to them from a schematic advantage. Brook is doing his thing on the block, when opportunities present themselves, and Milwaukee was killing them in the paint in the first game. I don't think Chuck always is speaking from a right basketball mind, but he was right in being in awe that they didn't beat that drum and instead, tried to go shot for shot. Philly ain't got the shooting to hang with Brooklyn, even with a healthy Embiid, but they could get Blake and Claxton in foul trouble, and at least have all the easy 2s in the world.

None of the West teams really present a teamwide physical advantage like those two. Ayton's just one man, Rudy's just one man (and isn't that much of an offensive threat), Aaron Gordon doesn't really play big, Zubac fukking stinks. and 3 of those 4 squads live and die by the 3. They're food.

Some thoughts:

nuggets are gonna have to keep Gordon on book all series. No easy switches when MPJ’s man comes over and screens.

Suns offense is legit, and you’re going to have to concede something, but it can’t be open corner 3s. If bridges and crowder can get comfortable, there isn’t gonna be any stopping phoenix’s offense.

Nuggets missed A TON of shots they not only normally make, but work to get. Positive regression should happen, but you can’t just say those will start dropping. You actually gotta go out and make them. This especially applies to Jokic. He got some good looks but didn’t do shyt in the second half.

Nuggets lack of offensive rebounding jumped out at me. There were several shots that went up where Jokic was battling a guard, or there were more nuggets inside than Suns, and the ball just found a Sun. That’s an area I think they can turn into a big advantage.

all in all, nuggets took the Suns’ biggest punch, and didn’t respond. But a game 1 loss is par for the course for this era of nuggets teams, so we’ll see how they come out in game 2.

Sorry breh I’m one of the biggest CP fans on this site but the Clippers aren’t a good match up for em

What about the Clippers make it a bad matchup for the Suns?

I personally think that series would be up in the air and hard to call

Jokic with 22 points on 23 shots with no freethrows. Ayton with 20 points on 13 shots.

Ayton's really stepping up as a two way star. With the way he played against Anthony Davis and now MVP Jokic, he's getting a max for sure.

Is he eligible for the same contract as Luka?

Ayton can't get the 200 million max that Luka is getting (which is a good thing). You have to be MVP, All NBA, or Defensive Player Of The Year to get more money in a max rookie extension. Ayton can only get the regular rookie max. He'll get something similar to what Bam Adebayo got.
